  “In joining the YMCA as a member a person accepts or endorses the general objectives and principles of the organization. He is not simply paying for something he receives, such as when buying things being sold to the public at a store. (Compare 1 Corinthians 8:10; 10:25.)   this morning two elders visited me and said this years memorial day is on april 14, and we are informing you well in advance so that you can arrange your affairs and attend.

  [i had given them the impression that i am very busy due to my secular assignments, hence most of the time out of station.].

  then i thought two elders visiting me cannot have an ordinary purpose, and i should give them a piece of my mind.

  as of yet, no member of the jehovah's witness faith can defend their unique beliefs.

  when the dust settles, it all comes down to blind faith in men's ever-changing ideas.

  this "unique belief" was not a "true teaching of the bible.

  On what scriptures does the WT oppose higher education?

  recently the wt has taken a stricter stand regarding going to college and getting a higher education.

  does anyone know what scriptures the wt uses to support this?

  i can't find any in the bible.

  New congregation accounting system

  i'm sure i read a thread here about the new congregation accounting procedures.

  i ask because i handle the accounts in our cong and in our part of the world the new accounting system has just arrived whereby local congs do not have their own account any longer, but all funds outside of basic monthly costs is forwarded to an account controlled by the org.

  this is causing huge confusion in our cong as we have to work out how much we need to keep back for monthly costs and the new idea is that you send all your extra cash to the org and if you need it back you can ask for it but we don't know how easy or hard it would be to do that.
