The UK WTS companies' accounts documents for 2015 are currently available to download and here's information plus links
by AndersonsInfo inthe uk wts companies' documents for 2015 are currently free to download from the uk government's companies house website.
the person who sent me this information said that it appears they are testing a new form of the website, so access to documents may in the future revert to a pay per file system.
therefore, he advises getting copies of documents as soon as possible, as he doesn’t know when the testing phase will finish.

Dissenters in Watchtower History: Differing Departures
by slimboyfat ini'm reading an excellent book about defectors from the mormon church called differing visions: dissenters in mormon history.
through a collection of essays from many academic authors it looks at the life stories of dissenters and reasons for departure, as well as analysing the impact of their dissent on the church itself.
fascinating stuff and makes me wish there was a similar volume looking at the key dissenters from jws/watchtower and the impact they had.

The Elders want to meet with me and the hubby... Lol lol lol
by Sevan inso the elders called wanting to meet with me and my husband.
most likely because i told a concerned jw friend of mine that i really care about that i wasn't coming back and a couple of the issues i had.
i didn't bring up any so-called "apostate" information, just told her about the australian royal commission and that there are a lot of unscriptural teachings and that the gb apply scriptures that are about jehovah and jesus to themselves, which is idolatry.

Listing Bros cv's in their intro
by purrpurr inat the assembly i noticed something new and disturbing.
when a brother is introduced before a talk the audience is now given their life history/ major accomplishments .. "brother arsehole who served at bethal for five years, pioneered in the foreign language territory for ten years, is an elder in x congregation and serves in the construction projects blah blah blah".
this puffing up never used to happen?

I also see many younger (almost average) brothers giving parts or contributing in some way from the platform.
There was a time when it was mostly the heavy weights from the circuit giving parts, but now they have so many short parts, it seems they are opening it up for more brothers to give parts.
At least 4 of the newer brothers that gave parts, we use to hang with. They arent doing anything special. I wonder if it somehow brings the level of control down notch, because these brothers now have a higher level of responsibility to uphold within the congregation, so to speak and JW's look up to them a little differently.
It's all about status and the titles, accomplishments etc, it puts them up on a pedestal.

I noticed this as well. It seems in the past, they may have listed the congregation or if they were from Bethel but now they are stating the amount of time they pioneered and any other accomplishments.
It stood out to me because it was like they were trailing off a list for some brothers.

Fading 2.0
by pale.emperor inthe following examples are true.
witnessed by myself and many many other jw's of my age generation.. they're examples of a successful fade, and a failed fade and what we can learn from them.. the successful fade.
sister c - she gets baptized at 19yo.

Very good advice pale.emperor. It helps to be able to picture what a successful vs failed fade looks like.
A challenge for a successful fade (Sister C) is if she is already married when she starts to doubt and her husband is a JW. How much of her doubts, if any, should she share with her husband? It would be ideal if she could share them all but this still puts her at risk of failing the fade.
If she shares none of her thoughts or doubts with anyone, she will need a solid reason for decreasing meeting attendance, field service and other activities.
There is this elder, that I believe his wife may be awake that has faded successfully. I've known him for over 3 years and have never met her. We are told she takes care of her sick mother. Even still this is not typical of most JWs. They will usually find a way to attend at least the memorial, even if they must hire someone for a couple of hours. Does she not leave her mother's side ever? I guess it is possible but I assume she at least run errands etc. So how does she explain to her JW Elder spouse what activities she can and can not do? JWs start to question sincerity when they see a tiny descrepency. There is obviously more to the story than what the husband is disclosing. Either she herself suffers from some ailment or disorder, being stumbled or he knows of her doubts and covers for her. Its no one business but the point is, there is at least two levels to over come when married, one with the spouse, another with the local elders/congregation. I would say there is another layer to overcome with close JW family.

Hi Openheart, welcome!
I'm sorry for what you are going through. There's lots here that have similar experiences. This is a great place to vent, research, etc.
Can/have you seek/sought a professional to help with the depression and drinking...maybe they can help you find some better ways to cope? You've got alot on your plate, therefore other coping options maybe helpful.
