lol basketball, football, hockey, soccer...all the same sport with their own little twists.
lemme ask you, ever tried playing? you understand the different player packages, motions, audibles?
the devil is in the details. it always is. what you see on the soccer pitch are things an untrained eye wouldn't see, notice or appreciate.
goes for everything really. game recognize game and all that

Why Is Alcoholism Deeply Embeded In JW Culture?
by RottenRiley inwe get plenty of company men passing through our circuit, often filled with misinformation and lugging around a suitcase of guilt, they bring more guilt to the weak while praising the braggart pioneers and slapping the "righteous over much" elders.
why are the wrong people getting praise in this distorted community?
i know for a fact many of the elders i served with have issues with alcoholism, when "brother guilt" brought his emotional hurricane through our circuit, i had the chance to eat and help pay for his "seven shots of tequila", both him and his wife were not immune to over-indulgences.

gotta drink to handle the troof?
on a more serious thought...i'm reminded of an interesting quote from a book about corruption in washington dc, how at the end of the day, when there's a buck to be made...politics gets tossed aside. the quote was from a democratic strategist who had a lobbying firm with a republican strategist. he said..."he got the joke...we're all patriots"
ie, no matter how bitter the fighting gets and the socialist, fascist name calling on tv they all know they're all "patriots"
and i'd imagine despite the bs they sling, the elders..welll, the company men passing through all get the joke

Not many subjects they could teach...... the REAL information outisde of Watchtower proves them all liars.
how's that different from any religion out there?
i thnk their biggest problem is what would happen if you stuck a bunch of overprotected jw males finally escaping their jw parents around a bunch of like minded jw females.
there's just no way they can have a school. it'd be impossible to do that and not have the curtains pulled back to see how jws aren't any better than anyone else.
they have some lofty standards that they can never live up to without cutting off their nose in every conceivable way

New Doscovery about Noahs Ark (cue mystery music)
by Jon Preston in'the ark before noah' - curator irving finkel decodes the story of the floodit was a vast boat that saved two of each animal and a handful of humans from a catastrophic flood.. but forget all those images of a long vessel with a pointy bow the original noah's ark, new research suggests, was round.. a recently deciphered 4,000-year-old tablet from ancient mesopotamia modern-day iraq reveals striking new details about the roots of the old testament tale of noah.
it tells a similar story, complete with detailed instructions for building a giant round vessel known as a coracle as well as the key instruction that animals should enter "two by two.".
the tablet went on display at the british museum on friday, and soon engineers will follow the ancient instructions to see whether the vessel could actually have sailed.. it's also the subject of a new book, "the ark before noah," by irving finkel, the museum's assistant keeper of the middle east and the man who translated the tablet.. iiiiiiiiiiinteresting eh?

it'd be awesome if scholars grew some sack and called it all out for the bs that it is.
"a deranged man hearing voices in his head supposedly building a boat out of wood with no heavy machinery and only his crackpot kids and wife to help build and then stuff 2 of every animal inside..."
very believable
i was in a store the other night and spotted bill oreilly's book, killing jeebus. out of curiosity, i picked it up to see how the 'miracles' were 'handled' in the story
surprise surprise, not a mention of one.
not the water to booze story
the only mention i saw (and mind you it was some relatively quick perusing, but 20 minutes or so aint bad) was the part where john the baptist was told of the 'miracles' that were supposedly happening.
what i found hilarious was fat-o trying to weave in how "burdened jeebus and his town were with the taxes". i guess he never saw that caesars to caesars verse?
maybe jeebus did everything for free so he wouldn't have to pay sales tax

Elder and CO just dropped by....
by El_Guapo ini haven't been to a meeting in over a year, and as you know as soon as you stop attending meetings/fieldservice the "conditional" love becomes more apperant.
the coordinating elder starts off by saying how much he loves and misses me, etc.
i ask him, when was the last time you called or texted me?

it'd be nice if they inquired the viewpoint of people who don't believe that crap. let's get some real dialogue instead of people apologizing abraham trying to ummm "deliver" (nicest way i could put it) his son to god?
