The "this system of things" disclaimer always annoys me. I'm not a JW, but my husband is. Whenever his JW parents call him, he acts as if he is always ASHAMED of being happy. He could be having the time of his life, things going great at work, etc., and when they ask him how he is doing he always replies with the "... oh, things are okay...taking one day at a time...as good as can be expected...THIS SYSTEM OF THINGS." It's sad, really. They don't even want him to be happy until everyone else is destroyed!

Most Annoying "Kingdom song?"
by doodle-v inwhat's a kingdom song you can remember singing that gives you the creeps now?
mine is "move ahead" i think that was the title, anyway it has so much rhetoric... but the tune is so darn catchy.... darn.... in my opinion, those songs are the perfect example of mind control.
move ahead.. move ahead ... blah blah blah blah blah .

I've only been with my husband to a few meetings but the horrible songs were the first thing I noticed. The tunes are atrocious, the words are literally crammed into the tune, and they all have the same message - "yeah we know we seem like a bunch of stupid idiots but we need to keep on doing what we're doing because we're better than everyone else, blah, blah, blah". No "praise" for anything but themselves.

After the last incident, the girl told her mother, and the family attempted to keep Anguiano from coming to the home.
What's up with this? Attempted? Are these people crazy??? The only thing they should have ATTEMPTED is murder (or at least a good old fashioned assault and battery.)

I didn't think so, but that's what spurred my not-so-bright husband to return to the "truth". The end is soooooooooo close now.....See???

At the risk of using a WT buzz-phrase, I've always thought this was a matter of conscience. If you listen to it and it makes you feel like you want to bludgeon your mother, become an ax-wielding serial killer, kick your dog, etc. - then don't listen to it. Otherwise, if you're like me and just like the music without paying much attention to lyrics (whether good or bad), it's not a problem. Just my view.

Jourles, I noticed that picture right away, too. Always easy to spot that UNBELIEVER in the midst. I made it easy for them to spot me by wearing a low-cut blouse to show off my new D-sized boob job. Anything to make them uncomfortable. Tee he he he he

You're right Blondie!! I went to the meeting yesterday with my JW husband . . . just like to keep up with what the cult is doing. They sure know how to put a pretty spin on things. I had to share this, though:
During the Watchtower, when they got to the questions "Relate a situation in field service where mildness has been successful" (or something like that), one lady in the audience raised her hand to comment. Here's what she shared: She was working a parking lot one day with a sister who was SUCH A GOOD WITNESS that she made a big scene so the police would arrest her so she could "give a witness" to them and to others at the police station. Ummm, okay, (uncomfortable looks from everyone), I guess she misunderstood the question. Then the Watchtower Conductor had to say "well, okay, but that's not really what we are supposed to do." Then he had to ask the question again, and the same lady raised her hand again - I guess she had something to add. Of course, he called on someone else and I was SO disappointed!!!
THEN, there was another question in the section about religiously mixed marriages and a Sister commented: "sometimes women want to control their husbands if the husband is an unbeliever so they don't submit to his headship as they should, so he leaves and it is the Sister's fault" WHATEVER! Didn't even answer the question, I think she was just trying to score some brownie points with her MS husband. Anyway, after that comment the elder Watchtower Conductor (who knew I was there and I have told him before that the term UNBELIEVER really pisses me off!) went off on a tangent about how the Watchtower teaches not to refer to non-JW spouses as UNBELIEVERS because they may feel that they believe, just in a different way. I really couldn't believe he said it! There were a few other uncomfortable looks around the room, but I just said "Thank you very much!!" under my breath.

your catch phrase
by SpiceItUp inso i'm sitting here at work and it just dawned on me that i use the same phrase over and over subconsciously.
in my job i have lots of people that thank me on the phone and for some reason instead of saying "your welcome" (which i do use occasionally) i say "not a problem" or "no problem".. what is your little catch phrase that you subconsciously use?.
