anyone else find that...
by Ghost of Esmeralda in...birthdays are as depressing as all get out?.
this is only my fifth year even acknowledging them in any way...but i still find them horribly depressing.
i got cards from some of my friends and stuff from my husband and daughter and my husband's family, which is wonderful...but only one of my ex-jw friends remembered...(thanks, mulan...) i wish that i didn't know what my birthday was.

I just had a friend whom I gave some free tickets to a comedy club ($20 value) on her b-day, and when at the club she'd expected me to pay for dinner and her drinks! I had also given her a beautiful candle and holder to boot. She was not grateful and months later, we are not friends (for other issues besides her b-day). That is just one example...

I hope you didn't mean me :( I don't expect anything from anyone...just wondered if anyone else gets blue on their birthday. I shouldn't have posted...
Oh Essie, nooooooooooooooooo, I didn' t mean you at all! I apologize if that's how it sounded. I was just sharing my experiences about celebrating birthdays since leaving the JW's. I wish you a happy day dear!!!!!!

Facial Hair
by nonjwalltheway inwhy aren't jw's supposed to have facial hair unless it is a nicely trimmed mustache?
if jw's are supposed to follow the way of jesus why can't they have facial hair.
i know there is no biblical protocall denying people the option to grow beards.

Since I've started celebrating other people's b-days, I find the people are very expecting and ungrateful. But I still try and put the good energy out there and pay it forward. I've also found that birthday alarms online are very helpful to remember family and friends b-days.
HAPPY B-DAY ESSIE!!!!!

Shera - LOL, did you know I finally worked up the nerve to watch The Exorcist, in it's entirety, when I was 23?? I made two friends watch it with me with the lights on, and ended up laughing through most of it.

I threw out allot of my music, as well as my brothers, I'm ashamed to admidt. I helped my mom smash his so-called satanic music and lectured him afterwards. Another embarressing moment was after moving, I mailed this girl who I was in astronomy class with, an Awake that was about astronomy.
