How do big guys at Brooklyn benefit from six million followers?
by micheal ini am 99.999% sure jw's do not have the truth, but maybe some here can enlighten me.
what do the big guys in brooklyn have to gain?
do you believe they think they have the truth.

If they actually learned the real truth, they still couldn't leave.
I had never thought of that. Where would they go? What would they do? As Xena said "If they get all that can you just imagine how good the governing body has it?" They have no one except each other.
We know how we feel when we are shunned, could you imagine coming down from the highs as SaintSatan said to the gutter. They are caught in a web of their own device. As Jst2alws put it, "TJ and his boys especially, may have come to the realization that they are now desperately propping up a shame."
Never thought of it from this perspecive.
I am feeling better and better every day rearding my decision. -

how i got here
by danb71 inafter having looked at this site for almost a year and recently made small replies to threads, i should introduce myself to you all and tell you how i got here:.
i was raised as a jw.
it didn't take long to figure out that to have more independence at home, i'd better be a stand-out jw.

---- Our entire family shuns us, that's one thing that never gets easier. ----
This was the problem I had with the entire religion. Even as 12 - 13 yrs. old, I felt it wasn't right. Everything else was a fairy tale. Paradise with all the animals and all of my family. (Maybe even a unicorn would be there!)
Welcome d -
this site has already helped me greatly and I have been here less than a month.
People here make you feel like your are not alone. There are a few that I already will jump ahead to if they start a thread or if I think they are going to comment on it. -

I don't know if I believe the Brooklyn "leaders" believe it is the truth. They try to hide or cover up history of JW's.
I believe I have read on some of the threads that there are Bethelites on the forum. What is your perspective on this? Do the Leaders live at Bethel? Or do they drive to work everyday? Is it power? prestige? money?
Who has been there and seen it up close? -

I think we need to all get together and write a book..
Has anyone read any of the "Chicken Soup...... books?
We could get everyone to write their stories and put them in a book like those. Wouldn't that be something.... x-JW stories on the best seller list.

What Most Needs to be Changed
by jst2laws ini have often reflected on and commented on the issues of what i believe the most devastating watchtower policies:
1 unscriptural and incomprehensible blood policy
2 child molester protection policy

I agree with Simon & Ed.
If the DF policy was changed, so much would crumble. By shunning, the congeration is still "safe" from corruption.
By anyone voicing their opinion or just asking a logical questions are immediately brought under suspension (at least at my hall they were). I remember my dad not letting me associate with certain families, because they weren't "completely" in the truth yet. I remember someone questioning the blood policy when I was pretty young. I don't remeber them staying around long.
I always knew which family was going to "be in trouble" because a week or 2 before I wouldn't be allowed to associate with them. (My dad was an elder)
When I questioned my father regarding DFing, he would either ignore me or put it off saying "it is Jehovahs way of keeping the organization clean". That was the heaviest that weighed on my mind. -

Do you think x-JW's need a crutch?
by digderidoo ini have thought this for a while...that when you leave the org, it's as though a vaccuum needs to filled.
when i left i threw myself into politics, it was as if i needed something to do with my mind and thoughts.
this lasted about three years or so, but even now i drink more than perhaps i should, as though i can escape through drink.

I threw myself into school and taking care of my sons.
After completing school, I moved and threw myself into volunteering at our local community recreation center. I have been involved with them for 6 years. (Actually I was there this morning helping with Baseball/Softball Opening Day Cermonies. I was also very embarassed because they called me out on the field to tell me thank you for all I had done. It was the first time I think anyone outside my immediate family has told me thank you in that way.)
But I did over do it. I couldn't stop because I thought to much. It kept my mind completely full, so I had no time to think about things that bothered me.
I finally learned how to slow down a little last year to do things I enjoy. Photography and gardening and my husband (not necessiliary in that order). I still coach soccer but I'm not at the park 20 - 40 hours a week anymore.
Now that I have found this site a lot of my questions are being answered. I have felt alone for so long regarding religion, but now I am finding peace. I'm not there yet, but my heart isn't as heavy as it has been for over 20 years.
If running full force and never slowing down a crutch. I have had/have a big crutch. -
