If the program kicks back money to the music corporations then it's legal, otherwise it's considered illegal.

Do You Really Need to Know the Truth Again?
by Clam inare we better people when were looking for the truth, rather than when weve found it?
when i thought i knew the truth it didnt make me a better person, it didnt give me peace of mind or facilitate self discovery.
if anything it released negative qualities such as arrogance and misanthropy.

I think I refuse to believe in any absolute truths anymore, so whenever someone challenges that I'm more than willing to poke holes in their absolute truth. As for truth in religion, I don't seek it at all, I took a quote from Abraham Lincoln which explains perfectly my attitude towards religion.
"When I do good I feel good, when I do bad I feel bad, that is my religion."

Alright guys I need some help....
by Tuesday inso i'm now about to be challenged on critisism of the bible.
i bumped into an old friend on myspace and since i mentioned historical critisism of the bible as one of my interests he's calling me on it.
i responded fairly dodging the question but i'm sure it's not going to be avoided at all.

Deus Mauzzim that is incredibly helpful. I was looking for the best place to start because whenever I was looking up historical bibical criticism it usually brought me to apologists sites, this gives me a better idea of what to search to get the information I'm looking for. I guess it's time to open up a can of bibical whoop-ass.

so I'm now about to be challenged on critisism of the bible. I bumped into an old friend on myspace and since I mentioned Historical Critisism of the bible as one of my interests he's calling me on it. I responded fairly dodging the question but I'm sure it's not going to be avoided at all. I remember reading articles on the subject quite a while ago and I'm looking for more references so I can brush up on everything. I'm looking for any articles or any websites that will deal with the different writers of Genesis, why they are considered different writers. I'm pretty set on the Flood debate because I've read talk origins site ad nauseum. I'm especially interested in any writings about the prophesies in Daniel which show that the prophesy was actually dealing with the Jews plight against their captors at that time, and any that deal with Revelation being a large metaphor to give the Christians hope in their persecution from the Roman government.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I apologize to any christians on the board that may be offended by this material in advance.
Thanks

I must respond here because I feel the need to:
That’s sad. But based on your description of the unbalanced leaders of your congregation, I’m not surprised. The Flock usually follows their Shepherd, sometimes over a cliff. And because of them, we lost a ‘salt of the earth’ generous soul like yourself. But know that Jehovah, who looks on in secret, did not forget a single one of your generosities… and HE will repay you in full, just like he did with all of his other mistreated servants of old, as long as you don’t forsake him.
This is always the way Jehovah will reward you. Why do we stay in the religion if this is the case? Why would anything be considered the right religion because Jehovah will judge us in the end to see if we're worthy of paradise. The whole concept of a true relgion is skewed here, the whole ideal of witness mentality at least to me is that if you're in this orginization God will consider you right and you'll get into the kingdom. But when some good soul is taken away from the orginization because of the sin of another person then they'll be rewarded by Jehovah later, and the other person will be accountable. Why do I have to stay in the religion if I'm a good person Jehovah will reward me with paradise right? This just doesn't make sense to me, if you're good you'll get the reward of the kingdom and if your bad you won't, isn't it that simple. Mother Theresa has a good chance of getting into Paradise, but she was a catholic. And if the end comes tomorrow will it really be everyone outside the orginization that will die? You're saying here that Jehovah doesn't forget our good deeds which would say to me that the good people would get in. So what is being a JW going to give me except a whole lot of headaches in this system of things? What maybe brownie points? In the end we'll both get paradise, you because you were a good and faithful witness and me because I was a descent human being who was stumbled by someone in "God's orginization" but since I was still good I'll inherit the kingdom. It's a dichotomy to me, either you're going to die if you're not in the orginization or you won't. If you're not going to die if you're not in the orginization I don't see the asset of being in the religion.

POLL: Would You Ever Consider Going Back To The Organization?
by minimus inyes, no or maybe....and why?

I guess never say never, but there's alot of stuff that would have to change for me to even think of returning. And if I did return it would be strictly as a Jehovah's Bi-Stander because I wouldn't want any priviledges or whatever.

Where would we be now if there was never a concept of God?
by dh inif (for the sake of argument for those who believe in god) there was no god, and no human being who ever lived had ever come up with or even had a concept of god or a higher being.
where do you think we as human beings would be today.
what do you think our history would be like, and our future?

I think that if things go as they are now, slowly changing things over years of time then the religion will continue on. It probably won't have the numbers it once did, but it will still limp on. I think though one big slip up could be the cause of a mass exodus. I truly think that if another 1975 debacle happens now with the internet and people being able to post talks online and literature online for everyone to see, that would be the end of the large numbers we're used to seeing.

that was always a question with me, I never really saw the love in the congregation. It wasn't even about disfellowshipping or anything it was more about just a lack of love that I saw.

Did you ever hear of stealing from the contributions box?
by jambon1 indid anyone ever hear about bros/sis`s stealing 'dedicated money' from the box?
-
Tuesday
There was a rather big to-do at my congregation about a teenager stealing the contribution money. No one really liked the kid because he was like really a big baby, he'd complain all the time and I'm fairly positive he had ADD so he couldn't pay attention at the hall and would be very loud. But all of a sudden some money was missing from the contribution box and it was blamed on him. I somewhat question it because the contribution boxes were always locked and only one person I knew of had the key. So I don't know how he got into a locked box without the key to take money.

I really like this story alot. It's one of the more beautiful things I've read recently. I'm so jealous of your talent to write JW material in a wierd way, but jealous in a good way
