Well with the 14,000,000 I think that some of those could be studies and spouses of ex-JWs. I was just doing the math of percentage that leave from the amount that are currently JWs. It's also not taking into account the percent of growth each year which would increase the number leaving. Personally I think there are more ex-JWs in the world than JWs.

( i am df's as of 83'.over the last 20 years or so, we have had a fairly decent relationship, aside from both of them having emotional and depression issues.

I would've just said "You think that Mom should suffer not seeing her children together because of religion?" Then I would comprimise "Look if you do this here, show up and play nice for one day and I promise I'll lose your e-mail, lose your number, you'll never have to speak to me again. I just want something nice for Mom. But it's your call, my religion tells me to look after my family, yours says to hate your father and mother."
I think there's so much in your letter she's probably going to stop reading after the first paragraph or so.
If she wants to guilt you into coming back to the JWs, then you should turn it right around and guilt her to seeing her family.

Mathematically if there are 7 million JWs in the world at a given period then with only 37% retained it would mean there has to be something like 5 million ex-JWs out there in the world.

What would you say are THE core teachings of the JWs...

getting some feedback, what would you say are the core teachings or were the core teachings of the jehovah's witnesses.
the teachings that make them unique, the teachings that if they weren't there the jehovah's witnesses wouldn't exist.. i would say the teaching of 1914 and god choosing jws as the right religion would probably be the core teaching.

I forgot about the whole Faithful and Discreet Slave thing, wasn't that originally supposed to be CT Russell, then someone said they were possibly the faithful and wise seward but were later compared to the evil slave class. Rutherford then believed it was himself (shocking I know), then it was changed to all the annointed. Funny teaching to go into the history of.

PROVE that Jehovah's Witnesses have the "Truth".
by undercover inminimus started a thread asking people to prove that jws don't have the truth.... but, instead of proving they don't, i'd like to see someone prove that the witnesses do have the truth.. this is your thread jw apologists....convince me why you have the truth.. to all you apostates and nay-sayers, please allow the apologists to have their say without harrassing them.

And thousands of other christians can be proof that people other than Jehovah's Witnesses can live out the Bible's applications. Again I come back to So F'N What? What I do have statistics on is percentage of religiosity amongst prisoners and wouldn't you know it, it's exactly correlative to percentage of population. Well except Atheist, it's not even half of the percentage of those who are Atheist.
But nice way to avoid saying you have no stats and figures and are talking out of your ass.

OK do you have proof of this? Any data, specifically what JWs are following more than other christians with numbers of some sort?

My Rant About Children Dying For Their Parent's Beliefs...
by Tuesday ini thought some folks here would enjoy the video, it's a bit different than my series "tough questions for jehovah's witnesses" in that it's my opinion and said more in a stream of thought instead of deliberately trying to get every single word right.
i think i've been watching sean kennedy too much and listening to bill hicks too much lately though lol.
the audio for my talking part is loud, so a bit of a warning if you're around people you might want to turn the sound down.
