OMG people who use circular logic to explain things and think that it is a completely valid argument.

Hypothetical situation: What would you do?
by winnie inlets just say that the jw teaching regarding armageddon, living forever were true.. and lets say that many on this forum who still attend meetings somehow survive.. you don't agree with the teachings.
you may not even like many others who survive.
why would you want to live with the kind of people who continually judge others actions?

I thought they were right when I left. I chose to die rather than to live forever on the paradise earth. It just doesn't appeal to me, if I were trapped forever with them I'd probably become a hermit near some body of water somewhere.

Resurrection vs. Re-Creation...
by Tuesday inum, what's the deal with this?
i'm speaking with a witness and he keeps talking about the resurrection and the way it's explained sounds like it's really a re-creation of all of our memories in god's mind then put back on earth in a re-created body.
so in essence a clone of me with my memories and personality will live forever in paradise, how exactly is that a resurrection.

Thanks for all the responses guys. The part I don't understand isn't about the seperation of the spirit and the body or a re-creation of the body at all. As some people commented here I don't see how a re-creation of my memories and personality would be me. It would just be a replica in my eyes, like the Blade Runner reference, somewhere in the New System some guy who looks like me and acts like me will think he's me, but he's really just a re-creation, and not me.
Thanks again for the comments, thanks especially for all the scriptures, I didn't think that a re-creation hope was bibical at all.

I used a similar illustration; if I get cloned, then some super powerful computer copies all of the memories out of my head and puts them into the clone, is that clone me? It sure thinks it's me, but it's a copy, not the original.
I don't get how that doesn't make sense, I thought that example is a great one. It doesn't make sense to me, if I'm re-created it's not me going into paradise it's the re-created one going. The whole idea of being perfect annoys me because all of my imperfections are what defines me as a person. No one seems to understand that I think.
Eh, I don't know if it's worth debating, I just said "If the bible was putting out a re-creation hope and not a resurrection hope I think they would've said it."

Just because someone has my memories and my personality does not make them me. That's a pretty wierd one. Any suggestions on how to explain no matter how much you say an apple is an orange it isn't an orange. Resurrection isn't really a re-creation. How does this make any sense?

Oh lord I remember when I was having some serious problems in the orginization right before I left my mother suggested that I meet with an elder for a study. The elder suggested that we study the Young People Ask book, to which I said that at age NINETEEN I might be a little beyond the relentless masturbation and double life portion of my life.

Fun at the book study
by Zico ini know what you're thinking.
how can you possibly have fun at the book study?
well, it's easy to have fun with the revelation book, it's so full of forced interpretations and massive holes, you can just rip it apart (subtly, of course) it's also much easier to question things in a smaller group.

Wow I wish I had those kind of balls when I was going to the hall. The best I could do is muster some hardcore sarcasm when it came to really stupid stuff. Keep us abreast of all the details on future meetings; and the hot chick too keep us abreast of that LOL

There's a bunch of me wrestling on there. The last one was a stretcher match. I'm thinking of putting together something with like my top 10 matches or something.
