Eric Reeder's Memorial?
by NeverKnew ini've seen the insulting obituary and like all of you, i'm blown away.. i've also seen several threads of individuals crying out for an opportunity to meet with others on this board.
maybe it's time to recognize the need for an assembly (if you will) to foster a familial relationship for those on this board!.
what if a memorial were planned, in eric's honor of course, for a weekend next september in north carolina?

SAD news about OOMPA......

just recieved the news a couple of hours ago, and have almost no details.
it happened today or yesterday, he took his own life.

A couple of the things that came out of their project on Scientology was the debacle about a boat that was filled with asbestos and gave some scientologists some form of cancer and also the kidnapping case became public knowlege.
From what I understand the JW files have been pulled and are being decrypted. I don't see how they're going to do it without the program that runs them but hey more power to them.

I actually agree and disagree with you. Basically the WT claims ignorance in the cases of child molestation like they're not corresponding with the different congregations regarding the situation and really is trying to cover over the whole situation. So in this case where the goal is to make public the files to show they are in the know about every single case in which it occurred and are purposely keeping it secret I support that action. The rest of the stuff about taking down the website and all that jazz I think is pointless. I think the fact they're hiding behind clergy privilege having something like this in the public now takes away the clergy privilege and questions in the courtroom can be more direct. If this were something as simple as "We're going to take down the Watchtowr website and cripple their printing machines" I wouldn't support it, however bringing to light the documents that show they were fully aware for decades of the abuse happening to their child congregation members is completely justified in my opinion.

Would this be the first time that the Watchtower in Bethel had used someone unqualified to do a job because they had a bit of the skill set and were "spiritual". I seem to remember an old story on here about someone's two week stay at Bethel because they did airbrushing design and when they met with the photography department the guy running it was incredibly over his head and couldn't do the simplest of shoots.
I've done quite a bit of VBasic coding in Excel for jobs, I can do a bit of C++ and even a little Assembly coding but it doesn't make me qualified to do any sort of database design. However I have a feeling if I went to Bethel for whatever reason because of that minimal skill set I'd be at the top of the technology department because of the talent pool to choose from. At least from the things I've read regarding Bethel.
Hence I wouldn't be too surprised to see some elementary mistakes being made by the good ol' folks at Bethel regarding network security.

I'm kind of eh about the being too noisy thing. I think if you're confident enough in your abilities you can tell someone what you're going to do before you do it because you know they have no way to stop you.
Personally from the posts I'm reading about the file with all the JWs information in it, it seems much like an access document but if they get the data dump it's going to be pretty hard to decipher without the program that organizes all the information. Hopefully they're able to pull that along with the information otherwise I think the whole thing is worthless. I have to admit the idea that ex-JWs around the world would be able to pull up this program and check what elders have put in their files about them would be incredibly interesting and fun.
