How I recently handled JWs at my door
by Christian guy inthe jws stopped by my house a couple weeks ago on a saturday morning.
i knew that with others most likely waiting for them out in the car they probably did not then have much time to engage in any serious conversation.
so i let them talk while i feigned interest in what they had to say.

Christian Guy wrote: " Jay, Sounds like you are still under the spell of the JWs. Too bad. "
Uh?!? Really?!? For your info, I'm no longer a Jehovah Witness... I'm not under any spell... and JWs are not the only ones who believe the gospel or good news is not just about Jesus.

Your resoning that All these verses tell us that the "good news" preached by the apostles was all about "Jesus Christ." is ok... but it is not great because there are other verses that shows the gospel that Jesus brought was not simply about Himself.
Matthew 4:23
And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.Matthew 9:35
And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.Mark 1:14-15
Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel."Luke 4:43
[Jesus] said to them, "I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent."Luke 8:1
Now it came to pass, afterward, that [Jesus] went through every city and village, preaching and bringing the glad tidings [gospel] of the kingdom of God.Luke 16:16-17
The law and the prophets were until John. Since that time the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is pressing into it. And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tittle of the law to fail.Matthew 24:14
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.Don't get me wrong, you definitely caught those two "brothers" empty handed, and I love how they admitted they are preaching a "different" good news. That was clever!
You said: One of the JWs protested, saying that the "Good News" Christians are supposed to be sharing with people is about "God's kingdom."
Well, isn't it? (see above verses) If it is, the JW was not incorrect. The gospel is about the kingdom (with him as its king and all his followers as its subjects). Right?
That is why I think this strategy may not work with some people.
I do agree, however, that JWs "good news" directly contradicts the "one hope" teaching of the apostles. They also have diminished the goodness or the deity of Christ and do NOT practice the plain and open teachings of our Lord Jesus. JWs hadly talk about Christ except in Memorials and when the Governing Body needs to remind the "flock" about their appointment by him. -

Excellent reasoning... but I have a question.
Jesus preached the Good News of GOD and His kingdom.
Mark 1:14-16 says:
14 Now after John was put under arrest Jesus went into Gal´i·lee, preaching the good news of God 15 and saying: “The appointed time has been fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has drawn near. Be repentant, YOU people, and have faith in the good news.”
Paul preached the Good News of GOD and His kingdom.
Acts 28:30-31
30 So he remained for an entire two years in his own hired house, and he would kindly receive all those who came in to him, 31 preaching the kingdom of God to them and teaching the things concerning the Lord Jesus Christ with the greatest freeness of speech, without hindrance.
So how are JWs preaching a "different" good news in this sense? -

I disagree with Besty. I left because of doctrinal reasons and I'm sure there are a few that left for the same reasons. Not every one is the same.
Neverless I am getting my answers from another thread. Thank you all. -

Hi all. New here.
Is there a compilation of at least the top 10 doctrines/beliefs that clearly shows the Watchtower does NOT have the Truth?I do have on my list the false prophecies. I know jwfacts have lot of info. But was wondering if there were more or simply stronger arguments to use.
Looking for additional stuff to help my wife get out of the org. Thanks in advance!

What was YOUR wake-up call before you left the JW´s organization?

Thank you Comatose. This is just my third post. :)
In my case, only my mom is JW and she is very aware of how I feel. Cannot say the same about my wife's family. 30% of her family are JWs. So I guess I kinda understand why she is still struggling with the facts. -

For me it just happened 3 months ago. I've been inactive for quite some time. I've been noticing/experiencing for years that my "brothers/sisters" love was condicional.
But 3 months ago I was surfing YouTube. Watched a video about Famous JWs. I was reading some of the comments and someone mentioned Russell and how he was no longer anointed or FDS. His words were: "You don't believe me? Check the latest July 15 Watchtower".
Of course, I downloaded it, since it was directly from JW.org. I could not believe what I was reading. Russell, the guy who founded the WT, the guy who put the initial money, the guy that started it all, has been demoted as "John the Baptized". FDS is now GB? And we have to OBEY them?!?
That issue really stumbled me. Later on I found jwfacts.com and the rest is history.
Now I'm trying to get my wife (inactive) out as well. Although she admitted this week that she no longers believe in many things, she is still fighting it. -

This is the link that got me 'Unfriended' on Facebook...
by Newly Enlightened inyep.
jw's don't like to hear anything negative about the organization and this got me unfriended from a few of my jw friends.
this was the start of our enlightenment:.

Hello all... first post! :)
The same thing happened to me. I posted this link on Facebook:
http://www.10news.com/investigations/team-10-obtains-video-of-admitted-child-molester-in-jehovahs-witnesses07222013
And I got unfriended immediately by 2 JWs. The next day I was unfriended by 2 more. Even family members unfriended me after that. When I saw the pattern, I realized it was better for me to cut any relationship with this people. So I unfriended the rest of them before they unfriend me.
