  Whether or not it is evil to sit on your hands taking notes while humanity suffers... I don't know. But my awakening from this cult has shown me how utterly disconnected God is from humans, how the direction of holy spirit is whatever our imaginings tell us it is.

  I still believe there is a God up there but I have no desire to draw close to Him. I'm not even sure I want Him drawing close to me. I find his methods distasteful. And if our opinion of Him was as almighty important as some suggest...

  SecondRateMind: ...given the premium He seems to place on our freedom to accept Him, or not, and love Him, or not.

  ...then it is incumbent on HIM to cast Himself better.

  why do witnesses believe it was jehovah that said they would be persecuted in his name......it was jesus that said we would be persecuted in his name.

  i often hear are the meeting the interchanging of names between jehovah and jesus.

  it seems like the sheeple drones at the meeting have no real clue about the bible or how to believe.

  I left the org. over a couple of issues. I learned about everything else after the fact. One of the things that absolutely floored me was how much the GB had demoted Jesus and usurped his position. It never occurred to me just how diminished he actually is in the organization until I was slapped in the face with the evidence.

  
  

  I mentioned this to my wife last night that the poor Christians in Iraq are truly being persecuted in the name of Jesus. Again she gave me a blank stare…..as if trying to comprehend the reality it is in Jesus name and not Jehovah name that we would be persecuted.

  You slapped her in the face with evidence and made her think. Your observation of her reaction is spot on. I don't see any Trinitarian element to it, just a realization that the emphasis has been directed away from Jesus in the WT org.

  Scriptures that now seem to apply to JWs

  in the last year or so, many bible passages that i used to strongly and confidently apply to non-jws, began to seem to apply to jws.

  this change in my thinking was shocking and disturbing.

  i can best describe the feeling by comparing it to the feeling i got in 1981 when i watched the movie dead and buried starring james farentino.. in that movie there are murders committed in a small town by dead people reanimated by a doctor doing experiments.

  how many prayers did/have you heard for non jws while attending the kingdom hall?

  the prayer for the city council man or woman to grant their permit to build a kingdom hall or assembly hall?

  losingit: I remember getting offended when I finally noticed that all prayers at the kh were for elders, their wives, and the pioneers. I actually approached an elder about that.

  Non-JWs are of this world. Deserving of death. A proper JW would never waste prayer on buzzard food.

  United Nations churches.

  it must of been around 1992. i remember all the chatter among local wirnesses was about how the united nations was setting up there own churches around the world.

  it seems like there was even a newspaper article to back this up.

  it was obvious that this is how governments would finally turn on religion.

  i've noticed, partilcularly on instagram, a advertising blitz for jw.org by the dubs.

  primarily its the younger ones 35 and under vs older ones.

  i dont know if its just my friends or everyone but they are obsessed with jw.org.
