I've already DA'd but the thought of renewing my vows, especially with an anonymous, instigating letter like Petraglyph suggests... kinda puts an evil little grin on my face. -

What will you do?
by Defianttruth ini've been thinking, "what if it does fail and there is a mass exodus?".
i have been wronged and damaged greatly by these ones.
every one needs to handle this situation in his or her own way, but as for me if it does happen, i will meet them with open arms.

I would have an easier time helping former friends and acquaintances than I would ANY family member. The whole experience was very damaging, yes, but what I went through at the hands of family was beyond traumatic.
I think the best I could do with them is be in a place where I wished them no harm. I have dealt with it, moved on and I am not going to allow anyone to take me for a stroll down that memory lane again.
One of you nice folks will have to tend to my old family members.

"It gives me chills to see how often the covers of magazines (Watchtowers) reflect current events so far ahead of time."
Popes wave from balconies.
Heads of state wave from balconies.
Popes wave from balconies with heads of state.
Heads of state wave from balconies with Popes and other heads of state.
Heads of state wave from balconies with their wives.
[Popes do not wave from balconies with their wives.]
"It gives me chills to see how often the covers of magazines (Watchtowers) reflect current events so far ahead of time."
IT'S A COMMON OCCURRANCE!!!
To cite a very familiar picture as an accurate Watchtower prediction is just STOOPITT!

ARE WT COSTS ABOUT TO SKYROCKET?
by mtwtf inwhat will it cost jws in australia if the arc recommends that all au.
churches contribute to a compulsory victims compensation commission (for the want of a better name).
it looks as if every au.

The GB would start by sending a letter to all Australian congregations to fork up the money.
A motion would be presented to the congregation to pay X amount each month and Brother Brainwashed would second the motion and the vote would be unanimous.

SING NO SAD SONGS FOR EX-BETHELITES
by steve2 inwhat happens to ex-bethelites is really of no concern to the gb.
and equally no concern to us as ex-jws or those who question jw organization.. layoffs have happened at headquarters and elsewhere for many, many years - although the scale this time is larger than previously, being an all time high: 1,600. .
for the record, we should spare any sympathy/empathy for those who are about to sent packing this time.

We have all had to go through our own version of hell as we woke up and learned TTATT. If the cold hard reality of a Bethel layoff is what it takes to awaken those 1600 and those who audience the spectacle, so be it.
But I will not have the human in me dictated not to feel bad for them.

The Great Leap err Sideways
by Slidin Fast inone of the most disturbing aspects of the recent cut backs is the big brother communist undemocratic aspect to it..
in china in the fifties untold millions died of starvation when on a whim the great leap forward made the economy do a u turn.
anyone who objected even slightly was in big deep trouble.

SLIDIN, you just need to learn how to obey so you can have Jehovah's blessing.

What makes WT think they can reassign Bethel volunteers to be Regular Pioneers.
by Zoos inwhen the gb cuts loose 1600 volunteers, what makes them think they can continue telling them how they will spend their time?
i've read on many of these threads that the 1600 will be reassigned.
what, are they still under some sort of contract?.

Thanks for the responses. It makes sense now to view the rhetoric as wishful thinking on the part of WT... or good 'ole fashioned spin and marketing.
I know the GB feels it OWNS Christ's belongings, but to presume to dictate such an assignment after you fire someone is a bit much even for those egomaniacs.

Presumably these 1600 will go home to the congregations from which they came, probably live with friends or relatives for starters, get jobs, eventually a home of their own, take on the responsibilities of everyday life. Most of them will probably not have the time available for field service any more than J.Q. Publisher.
Or are the threads only assuming these ex-Bethlites will be regular pioneers?
