  Should jws eat honey cakes?

  i understand from reasoning from the scriptures that honey have a pagan connection,eg were placed on the temple altars of artemis.. there4 should a jw eat honey cakes?

  West Indian Goat Curry

  this is a bit of fluff and maybe i should inlcude it in the "cookbook" thread but.... yesterday at supper, (it was curry night and i cook the curry), we were discussing food and i told my wife that one of my best curry memories is west indian curried goat that i ate at a number times at west indian (jw of course) weddings.

  after the normal reception buffet, and the wedding cake, (traditional english sort, fruit, brandy, marzipan, and icing) these weddings included a late night serving of goat curry.

  i guess the enormous quantity of curry must have been cooking all day long but it tasted wonderful.. i spent the first 10 years of my life in a inner city area of the english midlands and attended a multi-racial school where being white was not a majority.

  i want to apologize for the "spit in your eye" comment.

  as you are, i'm quite passionate about what i believe, especially with reference to the us and what it stands for and in regards to israel for whom i feel a special connection personally.. one of the things i'm willing to lay down my life for is the freedom of speech we all share in the us.

  i disagree with almost everything the two of you say and stand for, but would give my life for your right to say it.. .

  Thanks for the apology man. I understand you have strong opinions as have I, it would be a dull world if everybody agreed on the same thing. ( Although, maybe it would help peace a bit ! )

  elders from the hall we attended for three years before we left the org, called the elders at our old hall (in another state!

  ) to tell them that my husband had been da'd.

  my husband's family attends that hall.

  what's a kingdom song you can remember singing that gives you the creeps now?

  mine is "move ahead" i think that was the title, anyway it has so much rhetoric... but the tune is so darn catchy.... darn.... in my opinion, those songs are the perfect example of mind control.

  White house guru's may want to irradicate Islam, we are in for a long war. America and Israel have attacked Arabs and supported the attacks for almost half a century, killing millions.

  The Watchtower Society and Corporate Manslaughter

  as the news item posted below reports, the uk government is considering the introduction of a new offence of corporate manslaughter.. i wonder how this will affect the minds of the watchtower legal dept' as they try to cover their masters 'corporate' asses once again.. while still holding out against any meaningful reform of their fatal 'no blood transfusion' policy they will now have to justify themselves as the originators, promoters and enforcers of said policy while simutaneously attempting to absolve themselves of any responsibility of the consequences thereof.. as the report puts it: [quote]campaigners in favour of the change say the existing manslaughter laws make it difficult to prosecute large companies because of the difficulty in identifying a senior manager as the "controlling mind" responsible for the death.[/quote].

  i was always honest with my field service reports, until the time when an elder came over to give me hell because i had only 1 hour that month in the field service.

  i told him that i was working 50 hours a week, had a 4 day district convention that month and couldn't do miracles that month.

  he never accepted my explanation.. .

  I the months leading up to my eventual farewell I cheated many times on my report sheet. I even said that I placed magazines ; hope nobody seen me take 4 large bag fulls to the recylcing plant recently.
