Countries, governments, and social systems all can encounter a special time of judgement - a unique moment in history
when they must face reality and survive - or wither away as another of humanity's dead ends.
The Muslim world has entered such a time. They must progress or face a destruction of their own making.
I'm shocked at how few people actually appreciate the danger that 9-11 exposed. The world of mankind contains a 'mind-virus'
little different from Invasion of the Body Snatchers in its importance. Intelligent individuals - who are often educated and able
to afford the advantages of Western life - choose to commit mass murder and suicide because of wrongs done to their 'group' -
( as opposed to whatever oppressions they have inflicted on each other). If Israel disappeared in a puff of smoke tomorrow,
I have little doubt that the Muslim world would not be one bit richer or more civilized - maybe less. If you still think my view is
wrong , consider a joke: The Angel Gabriel appears to a Muslim and tells him he can have anything he wants --- but twice as
much will be given to a Jew. If he answers, "Gouge out one eye", then you know where this culture is headed.
It is in this context that I see Iraq and the efforts towards a Palestinian state as heroic and farsighted - by the US.
Left to themselves, I see no reason to expect anything out of the Muslim world resembling human rights or prosperity
(apart from oil money not spent on weapons). Nevertheless, forcing representive governance on unwilling people isn't
a good enough reason to openly go to war ( that's where the WMD claims come in).
For their sakes, I hope these efforts work. If they don't we have Hiroshima and Nagasaki as examples of reaction to a
mass religious/military suicide cult. That's the sad reality that academics and peaceniks don't see.
The technology of the 21st century demands that people behave themselves as never before - consider the progression
of a hate-filled warrior picking up a rock ----- then a spear ------ then a sword ------ then a gun ----- then a missile -------
and then - who knows? Plutonium? Anthrax? One guy gets to kill a nation or a world - such is the progression of
'productivity'!
In 1998, a military trained psychic ( Joe McMoneagle) predicted a war in Northern Iraq that "would change everything"
with little of that positive. He didn't predict a deliberate war to 'domino' events in the Middle East such as happened in Iraq.
I am cautiously hopeful about this - and of efforts to create new energy sources that would negate most of Arab influence,
leading to greater world peace.
