((((Dana)))
my sympathy with you and your children.
Last year, when my mother died, someone said: part of her is still living. Her genes are in her children and grandchildren.

As a witness did you secretly celebrate holidays?
by Dimples inwhen i was a witness i knew of many who would either celebrate certain holidays in secret or make up for them some other way.
such as, family day ( christmas ) costume parties ( halloween ), i even knew several who made it a point to go see the fireworks on the 4th of july.
my mother told a wife of an elder that she always felt weird on mother's day for not sending a card to her mom, because her mom expected one.

"I cant agree with god on this one."
It was'nt God who said this, but Paul who obvious had not much credit for women. -

if you still believe in the bible ... please tell me why
by frenchbabyface inwhy i can't anymore : sorry for my poor english, but i've tried hard !!
since the beginning of the time, till the 19th century and more, most of stories and songs for kids, was made to scary them with a moral at the end.
to me, the bible is one of kind of that type of book (for children we are inside).

Nobody will be able to answer these questions to satisfy everybody.
Personaly I want to believe in the Bible as Gods Word. I want to believe that Jezus sacrificed himself for all humans. But I do believe that a lot, written in the Bible, is just the work of Humans - not inspired.
In a way like parents, telling their children a story as a warning or to make something more clear....... Jesus did the same as an example.
The Bible is a historical book also, telling the history of the Jewish tribes. No book has been subject for research as much as the Bible - and a lot has been found historical true.
There will always be questions why....
Why did God allow so much disorder and pain and so on.
I don't have the answers either.
I read somewhere:
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent
Is God able but not willing ? Then he is malevolent
Is he able both and willing ? then whence cometh evil ?
Is he neither able not willing ? then why call him God
An apology for the devil, it must be remembered tat we have only heard one side of the case. God has written all the books.
A religion is sometimes a sorce of happiness. but it is a comfort appropriated for the weak, not for the strong. the great trouble with religion, any religion is that a religionist, having accepted certain propositions by faith, cannot thereafter judge those propositions by evidence. One may bask at the warm fire of faith or choose to live in the bleak uncertainty of reason but you cannot have both.
For me it is a bit like rope-dancing, searching my way. My guidance are the ten commitments. -

Were You Ever Persecuted While Knocking on Doors?
by Funchback ini recently posted a news article about how a jw said they get dogs sicced on them or they get urine thrown on them.
the worst thing that ever happened to me was when a chubby man with long blonde hair and glasses opened the door and said, "no!
there is no f--king god!

I had only a few hilarious moments outside.
Once we were ringing a door and we had a long while to wait before the door opened. A half dressed man (came out of his bed) saw us and shouted,
"Jezus Christ" and slam the door.
I start laughing and said "No, that's not the one in front of the door" -
