Feelings after baptism
by Kool Jo inso for those who got baptized....a question for you:.
did you feel any different?
in the talk prior to taking the plunge, we were told that baptism would would show that we're in subjection to jehovah, so that we could do his will...personally, i felt that somehow i'd have a greater urge to do more spiritually, but i didn't..the feeling wore off in a couple days, and i still had the desire to do college ect...my attitude about life didn't change.... how did ya'll feel after your baptism in the borg?.

As a naive, 14 year old, gay kid, I just knew when I came up out of that water I would be completely changed. I would become "normal". That would prove wrong about 20 minutes later in the locker room. It took quite a few years for me to accept that I am normal....just the way I am.

Gma-t2.....thanks for being there for your son....nothing like a mother's love
Just Lois....you don't know how right you are....during my first df, is when I had my first HIV test.....I was planning for my exit if I tested positive. Fortunately, I exited a different way :)
Hello clarity....my partner is a unique guy. He was an original hippie...was at Woodstock, read Autobiography of a Yogi and considers Hinduism to be the best religion. My mom would freak if she saw all the Shivas and Ganeshas in my apartment. lol
Hey ABS....my sister is still in....having moved from GA to Key West has pretty much stopped any contact with former friends....however, a couple have stopped in Key West on a cruise and met me for a drink.

Hey On the W O.....next time you come to Key West would love to meet up. My mom passed away in 2001....but she was pretty cool. She always told me she loved me....we visited each other several times/year. She never asked questions about my partner, however. My sister is still in. We have maintained a relationship, mostly through email now. We own family property together, so there is still contact through that. I usually see her a couple of times/year. She still tells me the date of the memorial....every year. lol

I made my first post yesterday on an earlier topic about celebrating holidays. Just Lois invited me to introduce myself.....Hi JL.
Where to start? Born to a JW mom/non religious dad in south Georgia. Oh, yeah....gay, too. Growing up was a struggle. Did well in school, had some friends, but only during school hours....no extracurricular stuff. I got baptized at 14, pioneered, MS and prayed to be changed...good luck with that. Celibacy was not my strong suit. At the age of 25, I confessed to the elders.....wth was I thinking? Was df'd for two years....never missed a meeting. Reinstated. I'm not very proud of the fact that I eventually started living a double life again....but it is, what it is. Went through the motions for a couple of years, just to continue with family and friends. The prospect of living a double life...or celibacy, for the rest of my life, was not very appealing. So, I called one of the elders and told them I gotta be me....do what you need to do. They, of course, wanted to meet with me. No chance, bro.
Df'd for the second and last time about 20 years ago. Since then, have been living an honest and true life. Met someone 17 years ago...been together ever since. Moved to Key West, started fresh......life is good.

How Many Enjoy Celebrating Holidays? Birthdays?
by minimus ini admit that i do enjoy it, especially with my grandkids.
birthdays, too.. i believe we missed out on a lot of fun and normal activities because we were witnesses..

I enjoy celebrating birthdays and holidays. My co-workers found out that I had never celebrated holidays or birthdays during childhood. When my next birthday came around, they surprised me with a party. Included in my presents were play doh, silly putty, a slinky, a fire truck and a GI Joe. It was the best 50th birthday a guy could have.
