  I wanted to end this boring thread, but since you continue to attempt to fabricate statements and implications, I'm going to expose you for the liar you are.

  First, here's my original statement:

  Two wrongs don't make a right, and I am embarrassed that our country has not only overwhelmingly embraced the death penalty, but has also elected a man who as Governor of Texas presided over more executions than any other governor in our history.

  Based on this statement, you responded as follows:

  You made the claim that Texas is somehow over killing the killers. You are just plain wrong. Your uninformed claims is what is really wasting space here. Please get your facts right....

  As anyone can clearly see, I've never made the claim that "Texas is somehow over killing the killers," nor have I ever implied/inferred such a claim. You have fabricated a statement, attributed it to me, and attacked it. You are the one who needs to get your facts straight, and refrain from the outright lies you've committed here.

  There's nothing implicit about my claim, it's very explicit. I am disgusted with the popular acceptance of the death penalty in this country. This was stated, not implied. Period. All this bullshit about implications, inferences, etc., will not extricate you from the hole you've dug. Admit when you're wrong, and move on. Your accusations are false, and, accordingly, any statements you've made, purporting to be fact, should be scrutinized carefully, as you have demonstrated a lack of veracity. Your performance here should be put on your resume when you apply for that elder job; they'll probably give you extra credit for being a liar.

  I have nothing further to add. I hope you enjoyed the news of the execution and have an idea; maybe you can contact the decedent's relatives and laugh at them to add to their pain.

  My quote doesn't even come close to "implying" that "Texas is somehow over killing the killers." It appears that you might have left the JWs, but their teachings are still influencing your conduct. Similar to the JWs, you've tried to weasel out of your false statements, but this is an apostate board, and we won't let you do that here.

  I won't respond further as there is no point debating with someone who fabricates statements, attributes them to me, and then responds to his own fabrication.

  BTW, the Brit was executed. ThiChi, maybe you should hold a celebration for this loss of life, and you can revel in the emotional trauma presently being experienced by the decedent's relatives.

  The quotes you've posted are not facts, but opinion pieces that cite some facts to support their contentions. I can find lots of persuasive authority to the contrary of your posts, but I don't want to bore everyone with a bunch of bullshit like you have.

  I made no such claim, what is the basis for this false accusation? Are you on drugs? As for getting facts right, since the readers on this board can't even trust you to restate what I have posted, they should view any other quotes from you with a healthy amount of skepticism.

  What's the relevance of the quote you posted in response to my post? It failed to address any of the points I made, but did waste space on Simon's board.

  Two wrongs don't make a right. Killing is wrong, whether done by a criminal or the State. The State executioner is no better morally than those he dispatches.

  BTW, the quotes are boring. I could also fill this board with information quoted from anti-death penalty sites, but why bother? It's boring to read, and isn't going to change anyone's opinion.

  Many people might question the propriety of the death penalty if they understood that justice has nothing to do with it. For example, OJ Simpson was charged with a "special circumstances" crime, multiple killings, that made him eligible for the death penalty. Marcia Clark, one of the attorneys who represented the State, stated that seeking the death penalty against OJ wouldn't be "just." Why not? Assuming he was guilty, no one could have been more deserving. This wasn't some poor kid robbing a store to feed his family, instead, it was a guy who had everything but was accused of killing anyway. No, it wasn't "just" because Ms. Clark knew that it would be hard for the public to stomach the killing of one of its heroes.

  The reality is that capital defendants who lack money are at big disadvantage when fighting for their life against the goverment. The prosecution has unlimited investigative resources, while state funded defense budgets have extremely meager investigative resources and no access to the police as an investigative tool. Public defenders are overburdenened with an overload of cases and a shortage of personnel. The decision to seek the death penalty is entirely political and based on the district attorney's assessment of whether the death penalty could indeed be attained, notwithstanding issues of guilt or innocence. Poor folks are shit out of luck.

  For those of you who think that executing innocent defendants is ok if there are only a few instances of it, I'm sure your opinion might be different if you or someone you love were one of those innocent individuals.

  Arguments that jailing capital defendants for life is too costly simply don't make sense. The average cost of executing someone has been said to approximate $4 million per defendant. The cost of housing them runs about $30K/year. It's cheaper to jail them.

  I have no pity for most of these defendants as I tend to believe they deserve what they get. Nevertheless, it's not about the scum we are executing, rather, it's about what we are allowing that scum to turn us into. Recent trends in this country indicate that the public opinion supporting the death penalty is starting to diminish, and I hope we continue on the path of evolving to a higher consciousness.

  when i went to the meetings, i couldn't concentrate, so i would daydream all the time.

  i noticed that most of the time i would think about sex!

  i would look at some of the young ladies and imagine having sex with them.

  The only thing I thought of at the meeting was "when the hell am I going to get out of here?" I used to look at the clock every 5 minutes. I didn't have a choice, my parents forced me to attend the programming sessions aka "meetings" and to slave away at marketing the corporation cult in "field service."

  When I think of meetings, I think of a weird smell that came from some of the old people. The smell, coupled with the involuntary nature of my attendance, did nothing to make me think of sex. Instead, I pondered the environmental differences between the kingdom hall and an outhouse.
