The moral of this story is to be careful when taking action against the WT. If you're not sure about the legality and potential consequences of your action, $500 spent for some legal advice is far less than what Mark appears to be spending. This is especially true if you are publicly opposing the WT, including maintaining a website, etc..

144thousand_and_one,If your parents are still living, what is your relationship like now? If not, did they ever accept that you left before they passed?
3rdgen,
My teen years were very wild, and my parents had a really rough ride. I really didn't care if I lived or died, so there was nothing they could do to change my extremely risky behavior.
A few years after high school, I went to a university and my parents helped me financially. They were very supportive of me going down this path instead of the one I had been on for about 6 years or so.
When I graduated college, I got married and had kids. They never gave up hope that I would return to the JWs, but there was zero chance of that happening. They became respectful of me and my beliefs and were part of our family. They even tolerated the Christmas tree and decorations. But they remained JWs for the rest of their lives.
I really loved my parents, and they really loved me. They passed away about a year apart from each other, and I still miss them dearly. Losing them was the biggest loss of my life, and I've never really gotten over it completely.

As a born-in, I was there too. I can recall that they not only predicted the year, but also the month: October. It was stated from the platform at our hall. When it didn't happen, they lied and said they had never said that Armageddon was coming in 1975.
As a young kid, that prophesy was traumatic to me. They always wanted to let everyone know that folks were not doing enough for the Watchtower, and those who didn't do enough would not make it into the "new system." I felt like I wasn't good enough to make it.
Several families in our congregation sold their houses to live off the proceeds so that they could do full-time "witnessing" prior to the "end."
Although my parents were devout believers, I began my departure at age 14 and was completely out by age 15. I was never baptized. My parents had a rough time with me in my teen years. They were happy I didn't end up in prison.

I can't watch Lloyd for more than 30 seconds without feeling like vomiting. The visual of this younger, weak slob, combined with the audio - his voice and content, are disgusting. He would have had a very rough time growing up in the neighborhood where I was raised, because he would have been subjected to extreme bullying.

We Don’t Give Christmas Presents; We Give Presents To Each Other All Year Long!
by Sea Breeze inhow many of you dutifully told this lie to your friends as a kid?.

I heard that nonsense excuse as a kid, repeatedly, but it certainly wasn't true in our house. I never repeated it to others as I didn't buy it myself.

They'd probably let it go. At this point, any clicks they can get are good clicks for them.

Attended JW funeral today
by usualusername1 innever miss a marketing opportunity—even at a funeral.
funerals aren’t the first place you’d expect marketing.
but jehovah’s witnesses know how to turn every moment into an opportunity to share their message.. during funerals, they weave in their teachings of hope and resurrection, offering comfort and, at the same time, presenting their beliefs to attendees who may not be part of the faith.

Life is short, whether or not you're a JW. Make the most of it. No one gets out alive. -

L.A. D.A. Announces His Office Is Reviewing The Menendez Brothers' Conviction
by silentbuddha innot sure if anyone really remembers this case, it was huge at the time.
the very interesting point though about this was that at the time the parents were known to be very active in the jw religion.
i also believe that the father may have been an elder(i could be mistaken, though).

Sometimes the truth hurts, and oooof your comment hurt.
I'm sorry for my choice of words as I didn't intend to cause anyone on this forum any discomfort. I've always considered SlobLloyd to be a soft, wimpy stooge who is full of shit; hence my previous post. It's always been obvious to me, but apparently not so obvious to those who like you, needed somewhere to "repair." However, at this point in time, SlobLloyd's supporters have no excuse. The facts are there if they choose to read them. My question for his "Patreons" is what are you getting for your money, and why do you continue to support this lop of shit?
