Need some info on Pistols
by jelly ini am thinking of getting a pistol and i am not sure of what kind to get.
i went to an indoor range today and tried out a glock .45 (the smaller model) and a heavier .45. i found the glock rested well in my hand but i could shoot much more accurately with the heavier (and longer barreled) pistol.
any way, i am looking for a home protection / target practice pistol and would like any input on what caliber to get.

Linking severe corporal punishment with JWs is a nonsense, it's far more likely to have socio-economic causes . . . - scotsman
Scotsman, with all due respect, you are full of s&it. I recall attending district assemblies at Dodger Stadium as a kid, and when you got up to use the restroom, it was very common to see many parents beating their children in the back areas of each floor of the stadium, with belts, wooden spoons, paddles, switches, etc.. You could hear the screaming from the seats. Los Angeles has all socioeconomic classes, but I can clearly recall the words of the elders at our meetings, "spare the rod, spoil the child," which were used to justify the beatings that were commonplace at our kingdom hall. Even if it were true that they didn't encourage this, they certainly condoned it by allowing it to occur for many years on property owned or leased by them.
Most of the beatings seemed to be attributable to the inability of children to sit still for hours and hours of boring, mindless programming that their brainwashed, intolerant parents either enjoyed or pretended to enjoy. District assemblies at Dodger Stadium were held in the summer, and temperatures in the seats frequently exceeded 100 degrees farenheit. I remember dreading attending these gatherings that seemed to be nothing more than a misery fest. What sort of sick, lowlife individual(s) would organize meetings/assemblies with these conditions and no child care facilities?
Your effort to absolve the Jehovah's Witnesses of moral responsibility for engaging in and encouraging the physical abuse of children is both disingenuous and despicable. It's time for the JWs to admit that their treatment of children has been inappropriate and take action to ensure that there are no further occurrences of them condoning or encouraging the physical abuse of children.

Those who think assasination is the answer fail to notice that Saddam's sons make him look like a nice guy. One will likely succeed him, and kill the other.
Saddam is indeed evil, but Bush and his cronies have provided absolutely no evidence connecting him to 9/11 or corroborating his claims that Iraq possesses weapons of mass destruction. There are a lot of bad leaders in the world, should we sacrifice our brave soldiers to help every country run by a thug?
Bush is playing with fire here; invading Iraq could have devastating effects on what is already a terrible economy. It could also lead to another catastrophe on our soil that might even exceed the damage of 9/11. 9/11 proved we aren't invincible; the damage was done without a shot being fired. Hopefully, all of us will survive Bush's presidency.

Somehow, those ghosts, demons, and spirits never materialized around me, despite constant parental and Dubddom claims that they did indeed exist. Maybe I was so bad that they deemed overt action unnecessary? I can't rule them out just because I've never experienced their presence, but I also can't rule out UFOs, the Loch Ness Monster, or Big Foot (notwithstanding recent reports that the purported inventor of the "Big Foot" hoax recently passed away).
I remember JW tales of field service experiences where hands came out of tvs, books floated, etc., yet no one at the doors wanted to show me the fun stuff they showed the other brothers. I guess their psychic abilities enabled them to determine that I was not baptized yet nor likely to ever be baptized, so there was no need to expose me to such things.

I just came across this song by a punk bank p/k/a "Blanks 77." It is entitled "Jehovahs Witness." I found a site with the lyrics:
"here they come knocking at my door don't wanna hear it, can't take it no more i'm still sleeping, can't you see jehovahs witness, bothering me we don't want no pamphlets no donation from me, you brainwashed tons o' people but you'll never fool me get your hand outta the collection plate! save that for the god you create! chapels are made of silver and gold your teaching is a scam for the money you hold why can't people just think for themselves organized religion's a joke believe what they say, don't question the word i can't take it no more! you drink his blood and eat his flesh sounds pretty sick to me why don't you just shut your mouth why don't you just let me be!"
They have (or had as one site stated they broke up?) the 80's sound and a nice energetic feel. Check them out!

Scully,
Exposing children to Christmas trees, menorahs and the Muslim crescent and star is just as offensive to many atheists as this JW teacher's conduct is to many others. The main issue is neutrality, if all symbols of religious faith are presented in a display, the display is not neutral as it doesn't include a symbol representing the views of atheists. Maybe a Darwin fish?

Scully,
The problem with the "multiculturism" approach is that it excludes those who choose not to believe in man's religions. Scam (church) and state ought to be separate!

While she may indeed be a hypocrite, I don't like the idea of a public school ordering a teacher to display religious symbols of any nature. I wonder if the WT legal team has time to make a case out of this, or are too busy dealing with pedophile related suits?

Judge Bans Shunning
by Farkel intoday i spoke with a former jw i've been in touch with for several years and discovered what i think could be a major bombshell for the wts.
as we all know, shunning is the most powerful weapon the wt cult has over its members and for decades the wts has been able to get away with practicing it at their whim.
the us and other courts have permitted them to to use it, even though it destroys families and has ruined countless lives.

Farkel,
I think it's important to note that the jurisdiction of the court that issued this opinion is limited to the parties that were before it (i.e. the divorced/ing husband and wife). Therefore, even though the court was quoted as saying the "shunning must cease immediately," and "this Court hereby issues an order prohibitting 'shunning,'" it was putting the duty of compliance upon the father, not the Jehovah's Witnesses. The court has no legal jurisdiction over the Watchtower corporations in this matter whatsoever as they were not a party to the case. However, as it relates to the specific parties in this case, it appears to be a powerful victory that may be challenged by the father (possibly with WT legal support, but it's doubtful such a challenge would succeed). I believe that the mother could make a strong argument that even bringing the child to the meetings would violate the court's order, since bringing the child to the meeting would expose the child to the harmful effects of shunning. It is encouraging to see that at least one family law judge is wise enough to recognize that exposing children to the WT can be harmful to them . I'm looking forward to reading the entire opinion - please post it if you can.

OJ makes me sick
by hannibal indid anyone see oj simpson on espn last night?.
dan patrick interveiwed that scumbag.dan asked him... .
ya, so do you still spend money trying to find nicoles killer?.

NO ONE on OJ's defense team had to explain ANYTHING about OJ or his actions. He went into that courtroom presumed an innocent man. It is the responsibility of the prosecutor (District Attorney's Office) to prove that he is guilty. THEY FAILED TO DO THAT. Therefore, OJ walked. Your gripe should be with the Prosecution team and the inept Darden and Clark.
Lisa,
Thanks for demonstrating that at least some of us remember what the Constitution is as well as what it means. The quote above summarizes the reality of the Simpson case; law enforcement and the prosecution bungled it.
Heathen,
Your efforts to make light of my statements regarding your racist views will not obfuscate them; I'm going to quote you here to remind you of the reasons for my statements:
I think it is a total sham that just because a white person uses the N word that some how he is demonized to the point of losing all credibility as a Law enforcement officer. - - Heathen
Law enforcement officers have lots of power, and if there is any evidence that they might be inclined to exercise that power in a discriminatory manner, they should be removed for the protection of the public. If racism was rooted out of the LAPD, we might have been able to avoid the Rodney King debacle and the riots that followed.
Heathen, your efforts to advocate the plight of cops who use racial slurs speaks volumes about your own views.
The jury was mostly black ,so go figure this one out. - - Heathen
By implication, you are stating that blacks are unqualified to serve as jurors if the defendant is also black, since blacks are likely to vote for acquittal if the defendant is black. This demonstrates your ignorance as well as your bigoted viewpoint, as black juries have sent many black defendants to death row.
Yes, Heathen, I can picture you wearing the hood and robe. They fit you well.
