Did not mean to offend Bobcat... I'm still searching so turning over every stone and pebble. No harm intended.

Marriage In The New World
by Cold Steel inokay, here's the issue.
some people, even some jws, believe that in the new world they will be reunited with their spouses.
jesus, however, said that in the resurrection there would be no marriage or giving in marriage.

Can one find God without studying the Bible?
by Dis-Member ini don't recall jesus ever once telling people that they should even read the bible to find god.. he said nothing about 'taking in knowledge' either.. .
he didn't encourage people to read the bible because 90% of people in his day couldn't read!
the bible was not read by most people, it was -heard- when someone else read it aloud.

So the next question is.. if we are having such a hard time finding and knowing God and Jesus.. should they not both reach out and make a special and personal effort to find and know us individually? It is so easily within their power to touch our hearts and convert us each forever?
Why does God not help us?

If your faith is then just based upon what another person has read to you is that not 'putting faith and trust in men', something the Bible itself tells us never to do.
Even today, if you want to study the Bible you will spend more time reading exegetics and commentaries than the Bible itself. Churches exist for the purpose of standardising belief, so they don't just exhort you to read the Bible, they also tell you what it means. This again is other men's thoughts and not God's. If everyone read it independently, churches would become debating societies.Let me ask this. Do you think it's possible to 'know' God and Jesus without having an extensive theological library and being able to quote from it with ease? Is it all about reading and study? Endless dead intellectualism?
Is God only really only for the educated? Is the only way to know God and Jesus through reading a book that is so massively open to being misinterpreted and twisted out of shape as we here all know too well.
How do blind people find God and Jesus, or deaf people, or people with severe mental problems, or people that are just not very smart.
Can one find and 'know' God and Jesus through pure spiritual or emotional, personal experience alone?

If only that was the case Bobcat. Coming to know the true God and Christ seems to have been made into a merely intellectual activity for the smart and well read. For those with a memory for quotes and word manipulation.
Let me ask this. Do you think it's possible to 'know' God and Jesus without having an extensive theological library and being able to quote from it with ease? Is it all about reading and study? More endless dead intellectualism.

Are there no other ways do you think?

It utterly amazes me how so many people, and especially those that currently are or were witnesses describe Jesus like they actually knew him and all his thoughts and motives and the meanings of all of his words. In particular Bobcats comments and style of writing reads almost identical the Watchtower style of writing. The very same self assurance and confident expertise but on the flip side. It's the very same watchtower speak.
I guess some people have just been in there way too long. You can take the man out of the Borg but you can't take the Borg out of the man.
And who here really cares about what the watchtower teaches any more anyway? Is that not why everyone has left? Or was it to quote them and use their old stale reasoning and arguments eternally in almost every thread?
How about some fresh and original ideas? Or does the watchtower run so deep in many peoples blood that they just can no longer even think and communicate outside that condescending organisational framework?
Just a thought.

Sunday's Talk
by biometrics inso my wife has started going to sunday meetings again.
when she returns home i ask her what she learned.. yesterday's talk was about "putting up with brothers and sisters who suffer depression" (in my wife's words).
this confirms my suspicions that there's a high percentage of jws who suffer from depression disorders.

I have suffered serious depression only 3 times in my life.
1. When my mother died.
2. When I first started going to meetings at 18 years of age.
3. When I went back to meetings after several decades away.
I no longer have anything to do with the cult. And guess what? No more depression.

Bro at table set up wouldn't answer question (but still counted his time)
by ShirleyW ini asked when they would start offering gray bible and she said two weeks, then the only bro at the table saw my headphones in my hand started in by saying " i see you're plugged in, do you have a smartphone?
to which i said no, because i just had a feeling that must've been a new angle to tell folks about the new bible app.the sis said they would start offering it in two weeks the bro goes on to mention that you can download the app and you get the bible in five different languages and mentions some other stuff you can do onthe app, i said all this technology reminds when the society admonished you all to stay away from the interenet about 25 years ago .
you should've seen his face, he was smiling but was thinking "how does show know" behind that smile.

As I suspected... so many words, yet saying absolutely nothing. I was hoping for something more, in some way or another many here are still seeking truth.
It's just starkly apparent that there is more honesty, openess and truth among those that have left then among those that remain in. Yet another one comes up empty handed.
Nothing to see here..

I got the same response when I asked the elders heartfelt, sincere and very difficult questions. I told them that my very faith and future spiritual life lay in the balance. I needed answers like my life depended on it. Which it did.
What did they do? Zilch. Completely nothing. No answers came at all. Not one. countless questions were simply ignored or deflected. They left me to die a slow and painful spiritual death. The very reason I am here is because these men, these mere men, plain and simple with nothing but the most rudimentary high school education between them had no answers to give at all. They cowardly slid off into the shadows and just acted like I did not exist.
I felt the most complete and deepest betrayal from these so called shepherds of God. So very deeply disappointed.
I take some of the responsibilty for having placed even a modicum of faith in mere men. Men who are and were as deluded as I was at one time.
