  JW.org to be banned in Russia

  my facebook was "lit up" today with all the out cries about the possibility of the organization's website being banned in russia.. as many of you recall this past august a court in russia banned the website and sought to make accessing the website in russia illegal.

  well tomorrow the appeal by the org will be heard in court.

  if the appeal is denied, jw.org will no longer be available in that part of the world, causing endless lamentations and cries of "persecution", only to bolster the idea that they are truly hated by the world because they are true christians.

  Who is attacking? Do you see an alternate view as an attack? That's quite revealing. Residue from your past maybe?

  The title of this thread is "Worlds Greatest Music", Not "Worlds Greatest Classical Music." Correct me if I am mistaken but the discussion is not what we listen to personally or what's out favourite music but what is the Worlds Greatest.

  I adore classical music. I have a music collection of over 170,000 albums and have been collecting for over 30 years. About a 3rd of it is classical music. I have seen some of the greatest classical performances by some of the greatest musicians on earth. Bach and Mozart feature heavily at the top of my list.

  I have also been a professional musician and teacher on and off going on 25 years now of every genre of music.

  But sorry in terms of sheer popularity EMINEM kicks most of their behinds.

  In sevreal hundred years I'm not sure we will be listening to Beehoven either.. the same way we are not listeing to popular Assyrian, Babylonian or Persian music. I'm sure they had their pop stars and genius composers too.

  my experience with jws, often they were very frugal and cheap, willing to use my car in field circus every weekend.

  why are jehovah's witnesses so dense and obtuse when it comes to sharing costs and contributing?

  has the topic of district convention 'tight-ass cheap-skating' jehovah's witnesses been talked about?

  Yes, I think it was very funny because as a Scottish man, I can get away with calling us cheap.

  Even if you were not Scottish it's well within your rights to do so.

  Doctor of Philosophy and expert in religious studies who serves as a professor at the Academy of Labor and Social Relations in Moscow, says that jw.org is “a gift for anybody who is engaged in religious research. It provides comprehensive and understandable material. Significant spiritual and moral issues are presented in a simple way. When you use the website, you feel like you are being openly welcomed into the home of Jehovah’s Witnesses.”

  Sounds pretty dangerous to me..

  J. R. Brown, a spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses at their world headquarters in New York, comments: “The jw.org website is valued both as a research tool and as a trusted information source for families all over the world. It is so valued that an average of 900,000 people visit the site every day to access positive information available in some 600 languages. Censoring this material is clearly unwarranted.”

  Yet they themsleves censor every other source of knowledge and information available anywhere that was not produced by themsleves.

  EMINEM has 80,744,467 million current fans on his Facebook page and his tune 'Monster' has had 63,742,969 million views in a single month. That's a population almost the size of France 'liking' his songs each month.

  I doubt there is a classical tune on earth that can put a scratch let alone a dent in any of these stats.

  Simon: The issue is that the avatars are cached so they stop updating.

  If you PM me I can reset things so it should update but the new site will allow updates anyway.
