Poster with basic math on shunning - for JW parents
by Fernando inyour thoughts on such a poster?.
(http://religions.pewforum.org/reports says: "jehovah's witnesses have the lowest retention rate of any religious tradition.
only 37% of all those who say they were raised as jehovah's witnesses still identify themselves as jehovah's witnesses.").

144,000 New Light update
by goingthruthemotions ini updated the list of partakers to 2013 (see below)...if i was to predict as to what new light might be coming down the borg poop shoot may be.
i would predict that they need to do something about the 144,000 being a literal number.. for two reasons:.
1. the number of partakers is increasing every year.

Do you like the people in the Bible?
by Dis-Member inthe society always speaks about all the wonderful people and characters in the bible.. they always too speak of many of them as being so humble, faithful, loyal, diligent, loving, kind, wise, merciful etc, and worthy of imitation.
also of how god blessed them followed by endless examples and reasons why we today should imitate them.. .
they also speak of how wonderful it would be to meet some of these people in the future 'new system' and have often depicted scenes where the the survivors of armageddon would be gathered around some ancient resurrected faithful asking them questions and listening to their stories of times past.

They also speak of how wonderful it would be to meet some of these people in the future 'new system' and have often depicted scenes where the the survivors of Armageddon would be gathered around some ancient resurrected faithful asking them questions and listening to their stories of times past. You would so often hear brothers and sisters talk about which Bible characters they would really like to meet from the Bible and why. But I for the life of me was not able to find anyone that even remotely interested me.
Apart from maybe Jesus there was not a single character in the Bible that I would ever want to meet. I used to fantasise and imagine myself in the 'new system' and try to think what I would be doing. I always saw myself getting as far away from humanity as possible and taking off up a mountain and disappearing into some deep dark forest and being more with animals and nature than human society.
The thought of having to go to any kind of meetings in the new system frankly made me ill. I think I would just run away to my forest and never be seen again. I often felt a little odd when on the ministry working with an elder and him asking me which Bible character would I like most to meet and talk too.. and me answering 'Nimrod'.
People like Noah, Moses, David, Solomon, all those endless Kings and Prophets held no interest for me whatsoever.. in fact I don't think I would even like any of them. Would I like to meet the Apostles? Not really.. Paul? Timothy? Peter? Nope. So many of these characters to me seemed like arrogant, self obsessed bully's. I definitely never liked David or Paul that's for sure.
I have always only really been interested in knowing God or Jesus.. and maybe some angels and that's it. Humanity has just never really done it for me. If anything reading the Bible has given me the impression that humans are rather disgusting and capable of being more oftem than not completely horrid.
What were/are your feelings and thoughts on this when and if you believe/believed in this stuff? -

I tried reading the NWT from Genesis straight through to Revelation many many times and one time I actually made it. Things got really tough when I got to Isaiah as I found all the prophets utterly arid. I never could get an iota of benefit from any of those books. Matthew to Revelation was somewhat easier. Reading from Acts onwards made me realise that I did not like the Apostle Paul very much at all. He always seemed to come across as a bully to me.
A year and a half ago I got an audio Bible read by Max Maclean and listened to him reading the entire Bible from Gen to Rev which took me 52 days. Even a fair bit of that was hard going at times and I think I did did it more out of a sense of obligation and guilt and as some kind of self-imposed penance and duty rather than a joy or pleasure.

AMATEURS using BAD METHODS: what possible expertise does the GB possess?
by Terry inlet's start with a very basic common sense question.. if you needed surgery would you go to a graduate of medical school who had been practicing for awhile,.
or would you go to an amateur who told you god would be telling him how to peform surgery?.
don't laugh.. it is a serious question!.

EIGHT MILLION sincere, devout human beings are spending the majority of their time following the dictates of amateurs.
Doesn't that boggle your mind?
It did once but not any more.. the world has never been in short supply of mindless idiots.

Good points Coded Logic. When I first came on here I was quite overwhelmed with the entire array of strong opinions, options, suggestions, advice etc. I too had to wade through it all, let it sink in and then see what floated to the top and made sense to me.
I guess regardless of the varied views one thing was apparent.. that many people sincerely cared. And that counts for a lot at the end of the day. It does seem Lenna has a good head and I wish her the very best in working her path out despite how she may be feeling at present.

Was not referring particularly to you Disposable but putting myself in her shoes my head would be spinning from all this conflicting advice. It's true, the support, sympathy and kindness are all invaluable but she really has to work this all out for herself, tough times ahead. Not at all easy.

My goodness no wonder this poor girl is utterly confused.. what with those elders, and then many implying there is no God.. others saying there is, others saying you must work in accord with your prayers and some that prayer is pointless.. some quoting the Bible.. others discrediting it..
I'm not sure how such utter conflicting confusion can be helpful except to confuse even further.

An important message from a PRACTICING Jehovah's witness
by Sparks inhi, i am also a practicing jehovah's witness and very proud of it,to say the very-very least..!
i am a middle-aged man with many decades of being a witness of jehovah god in england.. this important letter is personally to you, just as many of the bible's 88 letters are to be taken personal by you the reader.
i am writing to you to urge you to take stock of your life, think what your future holds for you.

88? Yes I can see how important these letters are to you, you can't even count them...
10. The Jehovah's witnesses are the only religion to understand all the Bibles books and prophesies and visions in infinite detail from Genesis 3:15 to Revelation 22:19
Pardon? For 130 years they have been getting it all wrong! Where have you been dude? Your organisation is blood guilty and blasphemous.

How many did you, personally, entrap in the Borg ?
by Phizzy inin my nearly 60 years in the religion, although i "studied" with a good number, i cannot think of any who could lay the blame at my door for being in the religion today.. one lad possibly might, i studied with him briefly as he was trying to get off drugs, he then moved away, and then married a "sister" a few years later, and is still in, but i doubt he would blame me, i hope not.. of the others i studied with none are still in, the last i heard of one of them, a weirdo kid, now weirdo man, was when he was arrested for "flashing" in a local spot frquented by doggers etc.
i guess i was a useless "tutor".
as it happens, that is one of the things i am proud to be a failure at, getting people to join a cult.. i always tried to not do proper r.v's, and never suggested a "study" to anyone, but some, like weirdo, were shoved my way by elders who didn't want the work themselves.. how many are you guilty of getting in to the cult ?.

None. Those that I studied with soon as I learned TTATT I went to them all and Un-studied with them. Not a single one now has anything to do with the Borg. They all teach TTATT.
