Euphemisms for cursing among JWs

in an effort to show that they had put on a 'new' personality, many who joined the wtbts would adjust their speech patterns to avoid common expressions of cursing or profanity.

yet there would still arise times when they would become frustrated, angry or disgusted at someone or at a situation, and wish to express their feelings.

here are a couple of substitutes for cursing heard among jws ...... forget you.

There are a few interesting things on cursing and so called "bad words" that I would like to share:

First of all, cursing is the only thing where it's okay to do what you are describing but not say what it is. Nothing else is like this. It's okay to say "murder" but not okay to murder; it's okay to say "rape" but it's not okay to rape. Yet, it's wrong to say "shit" but it's okay to shit.

I remember my parents got upset once when I said the word "fuck" to which I responded, "Hey, I'm just saying it, you actually did it." So why is that?

Why are bad things good words and good things bad words? Rape is a bad thing but a good word and shit (or fuck or ass) is a good thing but a bad word.

In fact, not only is it okay to do the things the curse words describe if you don't do it life will end.

Try not to shit. Never ever shit or piss and the result will be that you will die. Likewise, fucking creates life; if no one ever fucked the human race would become extinct. I think the F-word should be famine instead of fucking. Famines destroy life and fucking creates life, yet which one is considered the bad word?

If it's a good thing it should be a good word. Why are the worst things--famine (the f-word), cancer (the c-word), war, murder, rape-- "good" words but things that unite us (like shitting) or create life (like fucking) considered bad?

The people who become the most convinced atheists are those who were the most serious about religion. They tend to give short shrift to the possibility that any human religion, or any ideas that closely resemble it, could actually be true, because they have already fully explored that line of inquiry and found it to be a dead end. They see no reason to waste any more time exploring "possibilities" that have zero chance of being accurate explanations of reality.

I think that's where I am at. But I am not atheist. I still believe.. or maybe hope is a better word. I have just taken a break in looking for God among the religions of humans. I tried very hard and sincerely for around 35 years and did not find him there.

Where do you get your morality from? Don't assume that atheists don't have morals. We all have morals, we all have ethics. Atheists just don't derive them from a holy book. And probably your Bible isn't the only reason you're not out there killing everybody in sights.

You do not believe in anything, your life must be so empty?Atheists don't believe in God but they believe in plenty of other things that give their lives meaning... like friends, family, teaching, talking, etc. So no, their lives are not empty.

Why are you mad at God? Atheists don't hate God, atheists don't believe in God... they also don't hate unicorns. But, you can't prove God doesn't exist. Why Christians have no problem disbelieving in Hindu Gods... disbelieving in other religions' Gods? It is the same way that atheists don't believe in their God.

What if you're wrong? Nothing's going to happen if atheists are wrong. You're assuming that God is going to punish them for asking honest questions? Why would God be mad for actually doing some research instead of just sitting around and going to church couple of times a week and acting like you really care? But what if Christians are praying to the wrong God and making the real one madder and madder every time they do it?

You just have to have faith. God's given us this mind to use it but theists are asking atheists to close it when it comes to religion. Being able to think critically is not a bad thing. You have to open your heart to God. There's nothing wrong with atheists' hearts. They're not actively shielding themselves from God; they're not wearing aluminum tin foil hats. They're open to possibilities... just explain to them why should they believe in God.

What is really strange and bizarre is that now with the explosion of information caused by the internet even witnesses can and do find out the real history of the org and the scandals and the absolutely insane and false things they used to and still do teach past and present as God's self titled apparent chosen one's.. and yet they still just turn a blind eye to it all and continue like nothings up.

That in itself is nuts and insane. So yes, it's gone way past 'stranger'. It's a collective form of group insanity.

the above is title taken directly from the nytimes.com and below is just a snippet of the article.. i specifically recall when my mother used to do the dial-in when she was sick, i heard a brother mention in the wt study make a comment about the catholic church and all the child molestations going on (knowing damn well that the same thing was going on in the borg) all i have to say is at least they're making an effort to get rid of the problem by getting rid of the offenders, instead of telling them to "study more" or go out the in preaching service to rid themselves of the problem.

When A Fellow Apostate Goes Insane, What Can We Do To Help?

i don't know how to handle the situation with a fellow apostate who has lost their mind due to this evil cult.

this guy is texting many of the elders under alias of six different cell-phones no less than twenty times a day.. .

we had to change the locks at the kingdom hall because he was still stalking and prowling around the hall after advertsing he had left the kingdom hall and we were all no less than mind-dead zombies sucking out of the life of thinking individuals.

You seem be making to making out 'Apostates' to be some sort of organised group with behavioral standards and a modus operandi and methodology and that individual apostate can let the larger group of apostates down and affect their reputation.

Wow that's quite a scary thought. Do apostates have standards? I get the impression it's a total free for all. Every man for himself kind of thing.

i'm trying to find someone that specifically makes dubstep with ableton 9. i have few questions if i could just ask them i'll be out of your hair but i'm really interested and hoping someone is out there that is willing to answer them.. .

That depends.. you can either use samples but that will give you the same bsic sound as every other person out there or you can create you own unique library of audio samples from scratch and adjust the eq frequencies of each so that they don't bleed into each other and produce that muddyness you wish to avoid.

If you think about different aspects of a sound that can change over time, we have a total of five domains that we can control:

Height (dynamic range)
Width (the stereo panorama)
Depth (how close or far from the listener the sound is)
Color (how the sound is distributed across the frequency spectrum)
Texture (distortion and saturation)
