  Help. Talking to Mom.

  my mother and i have been going back and forth about meeting attendence.

  i don't feel i have to go to meetings to be a follower of god (of course i don't believe the witnesses have the truth either), but one step at a time.

  i told her heb.

  My mother and I have been going back and forth about meeting attendence. I don't feel I have to go to meetings to be a follower of god (of course I don't believe the witnesses have the truth either), but one step at a time. I told her Heb. 25:11 does say not to forsake the gathering of yourselves (god's people) together, but that I hang out with her and my dad and some old Witness friends so I am not forsaking gatherings. Her reply is as follows.

  Yes, I think the brothers use that scripture more because it is a command. Do you know of any scriptures that tell you not to go to the meetings, or that you can worship Jehovah on your own? I would be very interested in those.

  Any of you guys have any clues as to how to answer this? All help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  i just got my hands on a copy of my book of bible stories ... (1978).

  at first i was excited when a friend pulled it out of his bag, said he'd gotten it as a kid.

  then i started flipping through, looking at the pictures, feeling the memories spin in my brain.

  I was deathly terrified of the story that has the picture of everybody getting bitten by snakes. They all had to look at the pole so they wouldn't get bitten. I am still terrified of snakes.

  You sure it is the 24th? That was the 1998 Watchtower. Do you have one of them fancy calenders that let you know what day corresponds with Nisan 14?

  A little more about me

  hello everyone, you have probably read some of my posts but i wish to tell a little more about my story, not all of it but just to give a mindset of where i stand and how i feel.. i had been a witness since childhood as i had been indoctrinated at a very young age by a zealous grandmother who had devoted her life to an organization.

  like i had stated before i have come to realize she was serving a image of god created for her consumption by imperfect men, but none the less i know she meant well in her actions.

  i have always had a good heart toword others and god, and though at times it troubles me to think of how i used to carry the jw mindset of judging others viewpoints and faith, not intentionally but because of being molded into such a form through misdirected thinking.

  Wow thanks for sharing. I am so sorry you went through all of that pain.

  You should have come to our congregation, we are the only couple without children and we weren't invited to anything because of that.

  They can make an announcement that you are an unapproved associate. No one will hang out with you at that point but they can still talk to you unlike disfellowshipping.

  MOTOVATION FOR BEING A JW ???????

  what was your motivation for being a witness?.

  1) love for god?.

  2)appreciation for jesus ransom sacrifice?.

  My reason: Parents told me it was how I could follow Jesus example and please God, which I wanted to do.

  I think alot of people stay in because it is all they know. They are comfortable. Why mess it up?

  The 2004 Statistics -

  i know i saw a thread on this but can't find it - sorry.. i counted 63 countries with 0% or negative growth reported.

  that is fully 26.8% of all countries in the report.

  there could be more since 29 countries are listed in the 'other countries' line - some of those could be negative also, but they are all clumped and so impossible to know.. baptisms were 262,000. but growth was only about 124,000.

  Maybe one day they will stop growing all together. Hooray!!!!

  You know some of the comments will include "The growth is probably more than that but the countries under ban couldn't send in a report, just like when the ban was lifted in Russia and so may were baptized."
