One of my gun owner's forums is having a couple of really great discussions about JWs. I'm doing my best to tell them the unpleasant truths behind the truth. I'm actually one of 3 xjws on the forum! One is apparently still in the 'they're right about a lot of Biblical things' stage and denies that the pedophile thing is a problem that the higher ranks knew about, and the other (Heatmiser, are you here??) is just as unflattering about the org as I am.

Some of the guys are interested in the do-not-call letter. I wanted to post a link, but do-not-call.org seems to be (temporarily?) down. I've searched but I can't find a copy anywhere else.

Also, I don't have the address to give them, to cc it to Bethel.

Any help?

Naw, I'm just a lowly cultural anthropologist. I don't deal with tree ring data. I know lots of archies, though, obviously, as they're huge at ASU.

I consider Foucault to be the academic equivalent of the emperor's new clothes. Nobody can really understand him, they just have to pretend they can or look like they don't belong in academia. Saying that in a social science grad class gets some pretty amusing reactions.

Most social science theory is just common sense dressed up in incomprehensible gobbledygook anyway.

That was my husband's attitude, fortunately. I'm another "Thank goodness for hysterectomies" gal.

Does anybody remember the "with wings" commercial with the woman in the convertible, with the pads flying around??? (using the wings, get it??)

It was bizarre and hysterical. It was probably 20 years ago because I was watching tv with grandma when I saw it. And they must have pulled it it was so bad, cause we only saw it that once!

Firearms And Shooting...

i thought i would open up a thread on firearms and shooting.

personally i was raised around firearms as my dad was not a jw.

some of my earliest memories are of my dad teaching me how to put a round in a fleas ass at 200 meters.

i plan on getting my chl (concealed carry permit)

then i am going to get a shoulder holster.

See, Rabbit (and anyone else who thought we were too rough on the original poster), this is exactly why gun owners have to speak out against 'jokes' and 'misunderstandings' as strongly as possible.

Suffice it to say that in the US, the cities with the strictest gun control laws (NYC and LA) also have the highest murder rates. I realize that is mostly because criminals are using illegal guns to kill each other, which skews the stats somewhat.

this band can be a local, main stream etc..... my favorite local band was little blue crunchy things, they were from milwaukee, wi.
