  Mentally Preparing Myself for my Father's Sudden Death

  i figured i'd share this story with you people, and it's ongoing.

  when i was 19 years old, i had a girlfriend.

  she was extremely helpful, encouraging me to stand up to the elders who were coming to talk to me about my meeting attendance, and my lack of field service reports.

  Your dad sounds like my father-in-law...except in this case there was a big farm to inherit. Finally, my husband got fed up and did as you did. When his dad told him he wouldn't inherit, he responded, "You know you're not going to have anything left for me to inherit anyway, the way you're losing money. I don't want it. Give it all to (hubby's brother and sister)" We've been gone 10 years and he still tries to manipulate. Fortunately, hubby is doing well in life and the manipulation and string pulling don't work (dear ol dad no longer has anything he wants, to use against him)

  if you want to know..... if you remeber when i had it a little rough a few weeks ago considering my son,who is disabled with autism.well things are better.i decided to quit my job and stay at home with him.i have now controlled most of his behavior but i still have a hard time with keeping him clothed.i looked into many places but they just can't offer me anything,for him with out the money...i realized my son basically just has me and i'm going to be there for him.. working and having a full time job at home was too much for me and i'm not ashamed to say that too.

  well he can still stress me out but we are both happier people.he has changed much,now that he has his mommy at home..

  I have now controlled most of his behavior but I still have a hard time with keeping him clothed.

  Shera, I hope you don't mind me making a small joke to bring a smile to your face...My husband's not autistic but I still have the same problem with him! I wish at least he'd close the drapes!!

  Being a mom is the most important thing anybody does, I'm so impressed with you!

  Well, that was...bizarre...Wonder if the elders know what she's got on there (likes Aerosmith, has pics of movie stars she thinks are "sexy", uses words lik "man whore")...and the comment from the one teenage JWwannabe about their parents DAing and studying with their aunt...

  So, who sleeps in early, and who sleeps in late?(fluff)

  i find that i can't sleep in late on the weekends.i'm up at 5:30 in the morning during the week and by the time the weekend comes around, if i can sleep till 7:30 i'm doing good.

  even if i stay up till midnight i still get up around 8:00.the only way i sleep in late is if i've been drinking all night or i'm sick.. so how does everyone else do with thier sleeping habits?

  I am a sloth LOL If I don't have school I sleep as late as possible yesterday it was 12:30 LOL I have been getting up at around 9:00-10:00 which is early for me.

  LOL Sheila, me too! (I was born in MO [St Joe], wonder if there's a connection ) Maybe if I didn't have to get up to pee 3+ times a night I'd get more rest and not have to sleep as long.

  Why is it that getting up earlier in the morning takes on such a moral quality in our society? Hubby works til 3 a.m. on weekend mornings, and some people act like it's awful that he sleeps "so late" (3 am til 11 am is still just 8 hours). Of course, I could sleep 12 -15 hours if I'd let myself. I think that during the work week I just don't get enough sleep - having to wake up at 6:30 to get to work...and I'm exhausted by the weekend and try to catch up.

  I'm looking forward to actually getting moved to AZ...that 2 hour time difference is going to go along much better with my internal clock!

  I'm not a night person, I'm a morning person who lives in the wrong time zone!

  I can not imagine how a woman my age could possibly be attracted to a 14 year old. I also think it's repulsive when 40-year-old men hit on teenagers. Maybe she's been abused by adult men and thinks she's safer with a little kid?? ew

  Pitching, heaving decks? I thought carriers went around storms?

  My dad gets horribly seasick, but when he went on the Tiger Cruise from Hawaii to CA with my brother on the Abe Lincoln he wasn't sick at all. Of course, the Abe was the one that thought it could take part in the America's Cup and argue with a lighthouse that it should move...

  OK, I'll concede the point that landing strips aren't supposed to move at all...

  Liz...has had immediate family in all but the marines...and ancestors in the Revolutionary War...

  "...maybe I shouldn't have left"

  after leaving the org... and confronting problems (in the real world), did you ever feel like... maybe this is a sign i shouldn't have left?.

  i felt like this a couple weeks ago after finding out the guy i lost my virginity to (an other ex-dub), had a girlfriend the whole time we were together.

  .. but, he still calls almost every week (and it's not to talk about the baby).

  There's a way to put a screeching halt on that...tell him, the next time he calls, that you've decided to try to get reinstated...and you are going to the elders to confess to everything, with the tapes of all the latest times when he's called you (then hang up before he tries to talk you out of it)

  Even better. Wait til you've actually taped the conversations a few times (making sure you don't say anything damning yourself) and do take them to the elders (don't try to be reinstated though, that's bogus)

  Elders warning other congregations...

  elders from the hall we attended for three years before we left the org, called the elders at our old hall (in another state!

  ) to tell them that my husband had been da'd.

  my husband's family attends that hall.

  Yet I remember when some of us were trying to get info on somebody who had moved away that we heard was df'd, da'd or marked as bad association (can't remember...pretty sure it was df'd), those of us who were concerned and tried to get information were counseled for gossip. Well, no, we were trying to get accurate info instead of gossip (this was a huge problem in our hall...the PO squelched info from normal channels so we were forced to do everything by word-of-mouth).

  I'll let you guess - did our PO really like this person and have a reputation for protecting them when they went to our hall? Oh yeah.

  One sister was ticked. She said if a person had connections to our hall we were supposed to be informed so we didn't associate with them 'accidentally' and talk to or eat with a person who was df'd.

  I think everybody who questions the WT makes a valuable contribution. Each person is different. What I say may not strike a chord in them but how you or somebody else says it might.

  One thing I didn't make clear was we don't have any children now. We are in the um "trying" stage.

  That reminds me of when my husband and I were first married. We were at some church function (none of our families were ever JW, and we weren't either for the first 5 or 6 years). My dad was walking around, holding people's babies, telling people to come tell me how good he looked holding a bay (hint hint ). Geez, we'd been married about 6 months!

  Finally, hubby was standing talking to dad and one of the little old ladies in the congregation. She made the mistake of asking, "So is your wife going to be pregnant soon??"
  
  He said, "Naw, we're still practicing"

  I about died. Dad about swallowed his dentures.

  Nobody's really asked us about kids since!!
