Actually there is one charity, Aidafrique. I found a thread about this that dates back from 2001: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/15284/1/AidAfrique-NGO-WT-UN#.UkxCk9KRXms

What Are Some Stupid Rules In Watchtower World?
by minimus inthere's a lot.
.
one that i just don't understand is that no one should hold hands during a prayer.. where the hell do they come up with these rules??
-

In France I've seen elders with moustaches but never with beards.
When I was counselled about holding hands with my fiancee, the elder compared that to wearing a beard. It's not clearly written in the Bible, but it doesn't make it OK....
I think having to wear a jacket whatever the weather when passing the mics is probably one of the crappiest rules.

Talk out loud in public places...new preaching method? And go bags..
by snare&racket ini have been told of two things i had not heard of before.. one is a new preaching method, going to public places in a group e.g.
a cafe, and then talking of the topic quite loudly, for example maybe studying a watchtower or a chapter in a publication.
the idea being that people listen in and enquire etc etc.

My mum's been doing the "loud ministry" since she became a JW.
Actually, she does worse than than... For example, when she gets at the till in any supermarket, she empties her whole handbag (= Bible + magazines ) on the conveyer belt to find her wallet. -

Hi all,
This morning I wanted to force myself to throw up so I read a few pages from the 2013 yearbook.
And here's what you can read p.7
"In this time of the end, God’s people
have to cope with many problems, challenges,
persecution, sickness, and some
have to contend with old age. But we are determined
never to “shrink back” or to “give
up.” We love you all very much.—Heb. 10:39;
2 Cor. 4:16."
Isn't it exactly what the org is doing by selling its assets and buildings all around the world? -

Literature carts are the cruisiest way to preach ever - photo attached
by jwfacts init was a perfect spring day, and a jazz band were playing in the mall near my work.
in front of the band, two watchtower literature carts stood in solidarity.
i could not work out who were the jws attending them.

There was a test made in ou circuit back in France ten years ago. We either had to "wear" the publications, "sandwich man style"- which got some sisters into awkward situations (there was a sign saying "help yourself...") - or stand next to one of those carts and give away magazines or simply smile...
In France, JWs have/used to have stands on markets, but this meant they had to pay a fee and request an authorization, which very often was not given. With those carts on wheels, they don't need any. If they're told to move, they move a few meters away or to another street corner. -

Paul belived paradise was heaven
by DS211 innow i want all to add whatever they want to.

Personnally, I believe Paul was talking about his conversion on the road to Damas and used Greek mythology to explain his point. (I do believe the spirit survives after death, I just don't think it is what Paul is talking about here)

Thanks again all!
By the way, for those of you who can read French, I wrote a short story. It's about a young JW who starts having doubts after being "counselled" by his Elders and meeting a girl in the ministry.
You can download/read it here: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9D3rH87RgQnUXR2ejR1ZDk0ZGc/edit
I'm no writer, but that was great to be able to put on paper the things that went through my head when I was a JW and started doubting.

@ABibleStudent I know I'm one of the lucky ones, even though I did lose my friends. But my family and my wife's family are a bit wary towards me and I know there's an underlying tension I'd rather avoid to encourage...
I've been reading posts on this site for a few months now and I just thought it would be cool to join, introduce myself and make "apostate" friends :) I also hope to find some advice on how to help my wife. She's a very open minded person and has her own opinions on the WT's teachings, but she still believes in the org being God's channel and has no plan to leave it.
I'm also becoming a bit more vocal when it comes to denouncing the org (I wasn't until I da'd myself) and I know it will have consequences. Hopefully for the better, but I know all will not react the same way... So who knows, I may need your help and kind words in the future...
@Lois thanks ! I recorded it over the phone, I wouldn't have been able to be physically there! When I get near a KH I feel very anxious, I didn't want to put myself through that. But it was a great moment and I couldn't miss hearing it !I forgot to mention in my introduction that there are a few people here that unkowingly helped me a lot when I was fading, especially Ray Publisher with his videos or Littletoe with his disassociation talk. I can't list all those who helped me, but thanks for all on this forum, especially those I don't agree with, because it gave me a good kick in the a@@ :)
