freedom I have learned in life that doing things the right way may be the hardest and slowest way- and a bit more painful- but the outcome in the long run seems so much better.......

Then if I were you I would attend the meetings as a spiritually weak person. How is this little child going to feel about you when he/she learns that you did not take an honest stand for what you believe in? It's ok to lie to be with someone you love?
Not for me. I say take your stand- speak your heart. Let all know that you stand for honesty and if they choose to shun you for honesty- the child will know you did the proper thing and learn from your life. The child will also have a better perspective about jw's from an honest view.

Can we really fade away for good
by JH ini was wondering how long an inactive witness can stop going to meetings before the elders can disfellowship the person?
some are saying that the elders will visit inactive ones in jan, feb, march.
is there a strategy up their sleeve?

After so many years of being away- inactive- and you are coming to ex-jw sites? Naw you havent faded away by along shot. It still plagues you. You cant get jw's out of your mind. It has nothing to do with the elders at all. It is all about what is in you.
As I wrote elsewhere I am thankful that I woke up one day and decided that quitting the meetings was getting away from lies- but hiding from a possible man- made label was yet another lie. And living the 2nd lie was just about as bad as living with the first. So I came clean and spoke out- left no room for doubt in the elders minds and let the chips fall where they will.
Life is so much better now. Elders never, never visit my house!

Lets examine this one- Inactive for over five years- National flag in front yard and x-mas lights going up...
These elders were just going through a formality. Husbands response about pediphiles put the last nail in the coffin.
I remember years ago when I was going through my limbo status and avoiding elders- one day I woke up. I thought why am I hiding from this thing? For the most part so-called JW friends had already distanced themselves from me just due to my inactive status. My actions certainly made a bold statement as to where I stood with the organization. All this just to avoid a df or da label? I decided that regardless of family or friends I had to be honest first with myself and let the chips fall where they may. Fortunately my family- mom, dad sister- ignored JW protacol and stood by me.
To hell if I would live a lie for anyone. When the lights go out at night it is I that I must live with.. As much as I love my family and friends- and would never do anything to hurt them- they likewise must make the choice of how they will deal with me and my choices. Either way I will always respect their choices and deal with the outcome as an adult.
One truth that the WT taught was that god knows all- if you believe in god. So when I look in the mirror I must be happy with me. And if, when I die, I find that there is a god that must be dealt with- it is I that must stand alone before that god. It is I that must answer for my stand and my actions alone. And it is weight on the hearts of family and friends that choose to shun.

A quote about peace....
by kelsey007 in"peacekeeping is not only a central characteristic of the gospel.
peacemaking is the greatest need of the world today.
we are the daughters and sons of god, and that means we are called to be peacemakers, whether we like it or not.

We are the daughters and sons of God, and that means we are called to be peacemakers, whether we like it or not. It's a responsibility of all of us to pursue peace for its own sake, for the sake of the future for our children."
Quoted by actor Martin Sheen in regards to the Bush administrations war talk on Iraq...

I always wondered about all those poor true believers that died over two hundred years ago and did not have the WT or the GB to guide them and tell them how to find and define truth..... Were they apostates?

Prayer-
One needs a mediator, Jesus, to reach god through prayer. And god hears such prayers. Only after one is baptized-(here is the subtle message IMO) can one pray with holy spirit.
Are they then saying that only baptized JW's can pray effectively? With holy spirit? Therefore you must be part of the organization to have a relationship with god and have his holy spirit otherwise do not waste your time praying- you will be speaking into the wind....
At least that is what I got from the article.

everone is in confusion
by zolensky ini joined this site last week hoping to meet people that would steer me back to the organization.
instead the people i have talked to her are all trying to tell me too see the light and get out of the organization.
in my opinion, not that it matters, i really think that if a person had the truth deeply ingrained in them, they would never leave the truth.

All religion has scandels. They are man made. An unpolular comment to make here- but one I feel is true- is that the WT works well for some people. Just like Catholism works well for many. From where I sit you comments are welcome here just as all others are. You will be hard pressed to find anyone on this forum or any ex-jw forum that will agree with your statements. I am glad to be away from the organization. I do not hold any hosility or anger toward the group and I do not consider them any worse or better than most all organized religions. Like the mormons they have a stict set of rules based upon their interpretation of the bible. If you feel they are well suited for you I wish you the best. I would question, like others here, why if you feel they are right would you spend your time on such sites as this?
