They just came to my door!

Lovesdubs:I think so too. Im not afraid anymore, I think part of the fear was the tiny part of me that thought they could be right. that part is gone now.......Im not sure im sure what is "right" but I know now its not that!

Debz:They are out in droves this week, just saw some more today while i was out.
Another thing that happened during the conversation was toward the end, when first lady started talking, going onabout how they are the only ones to follow the command to go door to door, no one else does such a worldwide work, etc........ I said 'that must make you feel really good huh". Both ladies smiled and nodded.Then i said, " that must fill you with pride"
their smiles faded and they shook their heads, "oh no not that kind of pride".

eek...... i just had a visit from 2 lady JWs! I was totally caught off guard. My dogs barked at em so i had to put them out before i could answer. at first i just listened. The one lady started telling me about the evilness in the world. I told them i was familiar with the Wathtower and Jehovahs witnesses and had some issues with some of their doctrines and practices.
They asked like what and i said like how the watchtower claims to be Gods mouthpiece and disfellowshipping people for something then change their mind, i brought up the scream thing. They asked if i was a JW, no i never have been , my mom was involved, shes been gone 15 years now ( wow, now i have lived longer without my mother than with her around). They asked if she died a faithful JW, i said, no she died a faithful CHRISTIAN. (Back story: She was SHUNNED by JWs, while she was dying of cancer mind you, because she wasnt sure about some of the doctrines and was visiting a baptist church) I am a Christian and I believe that Jesus died for the sins of the world, which i told them. I told them how the JW books gave me nightmares as a child with all the scary pix, second lady says, "well no sense sugar coating it"
The one lady went on to say that oh, its so hard to get disfellowsipped, you have to really WANT to get dfd.....I said what about people who decide to just not be a JW, their families shun them....... the other lady said it was an individuals choice " , and her sons, she would just not talk to him about spiritual matters, she would not shun her son, prodigal son, etc....... mmmm hm. thats great that she wouldnt. Both ladies said that they wouldnt shun thier kids. I was relieved to hear that.
My mind was kinda reeling, with all that i whave read and learned about JWs, i have never been a JW but there is so much that is wrong, i started looking into them because of my experience as a kid with my mom being in bible studies.....and that no matter where i live, they end up on my doorstep. why so intimidating? I have hidden from them, not answered the door......This time, I did not let them scare me.
I think i brought up too much at once though. we briefly dicsussed the UN scandal (they deined the org bieing involved with the un , then first lady said the only tihng would be if a reporter had to get a library card), the child molestation problem that they wont admit to (two witness rule), and the baptism questions that bind a witness to the organization. They denied there was anything like that in the baptism questions and offered to show me in one of their books. I said sure, you let me show you how the WT has changed their positions on whether a woman must scream, and i will look at whatever you want to show me. They declined, saying they already have read what the WT says on the subject............ . Then, my husband shows up at the door, hi honey, is it the child molestors or the blasphemers? i said molestors.... not you two specifically but your organizaton shields them and allows them to come to my door where my children live, and you take notes on when im not at home, and i dont like it. This is all very poilitely really, calm tones of voice. They were all like, where does this information come from, i didnt want to tell them i learned it on the evil internet
The first lady was saying how you cant trust certain sources and i said how can i know you wont use Theocratic War Strategy" on me. They were all we never heard of that and we have fifty years witnessing between us. I said thats your orgs phrase, maybe you should research! They decided it was time to go, I said you take care now, hope you find the truth, they said, we have...........
They might come back, but i dont know, i might have convinced them i am beyond their grips............if they do they will come armed. with pamphlets! oops , during the conversation first lady dropped her bag, and accidentally left me a little pamphlet.......Life in a peaceful new world......

What do you think of this? My husband and I paid about 1400 in federal taxes last year. We are getting back over 5300. So, we are getting about 3000 more than we paid in. Do you think its fair that we get a bunch of money we didnt put in? I dont, but I am just playing by the rules. I think the "earned income credit" is a huge shakedown, punishing people just becasue they work hard and make good money.
BTW, although we had a pretty tough year last year, we are not destitute. We own 4 cars including a 1969 Camaro and a pretty nice pickup truck, a boat a trailer and we live in a 3 bedroom two bath with a big backyard for the kids to play in. our children have all they need, are well fed , well dressed, etc. Still, the government thinks we are poor enough to give us YOUR tax dollars. Hey what the heck, we canuse the money, paying off our credit cards will help the economy tons im sure. So all you high wage earners, THANK You for paying off our credit cards for us this year.
I havent seen all the details of Bush's tax plan, but I can tell you this: I think tax breaks should go to tax PAYERS.

Hi Danny, you can do it! I quit last May 17, so thats over 7 months now. I smoked for over 15 years. I feel soooooo much better now, I had bad chest pains and they are gone! You will feel so much better, once you get past the first few weeks. Dont expect the cravings to go away for awhile, they get less intense and further apart as time passes. I still want one once in a while, but its not worth it anymore, I would rather live longer. It helped me to drink alot of water. Good luck to you, it is worth it to quit!

I have listened to Floyd since I was a teen.....Saw them during the Division Bell tour, that was a cool show except the guy behind me would not shut up the whole time, he kept screaming at the top of his lungs, "have a cigar! Play Have a cigar!" and they never did, I was hoping they would to shut him up! LOL! Good show, great band, too many good songs to name a favorite but I dont think anyone mentioned this one yet, it has become more menaingful to me in recent years................. peace-Lauren

by Tyler_Durden injust watched an episode of 80s sitcom 'married with children', al & peggy get mixed up with a gay couple, fairly funny stuff!
anyhoo.... there's a neat scene were al, answering his front door, says to himself 'i hope it's a jw cuz i feel like a nice deep chat' (or something like that) & he picks up a baseball bat as he opens the door!!
like i said, fairly funny stuff, but it got me thinking: what other tv shows/movies feature scenes with (or ref to) jws???

In the book "The Handmaids Tale", there is a reference. I am not sure if its in the movie too, its been a long time since ive seen it, but i remember at least in the book, the main character is looking at an unfortunate soul who is hanging lifeless from a tree, tagged with a sign "Jehovahs Witness". In the world of the story, most of the women are infertile and the country is taken over by strict fundamentalists who force all the fertile women to be "handmaidens" for the rich people to have children. Anyone who doesnt agree with thier policies gets it like the guy on the tree. Weird interesting story.......
