What is the real draw, immortality or perfection?
Really the only parts of the paradise that were ever attractive to me were the longevity and perfect health. The idea that no one would ever "sin" sounded really boring.
i wonder; if the typical jw was given a choice between living 100 years in paradise or living forever in a society such as we have today, what would they choose?
what is the real draw, immortality or perfection?.

I told them I've seen there "spiritual paradise" and if the same people are going to be there in the earthly paradise I definitely don't want to be there cuz it sucks!!
lol! That rules. I would love to say something like that to some of the dubs. But it would only hurt me by having my family think I'm really negative and hateful towards the "truth"
1975. the end of 6000 years of man's existence, and logically, therefore, the start of the 1000 year reign, which meant that armageddon had to be done and dusted before that.. i remember it well!
the hype at assemblies, my dad giving up his job and selling his home to move where the "need was great", now minimised by mother with her "oh so you're another seventy-fiver are you" comments.. now it's just something that occasionally embarrasses jw's, some of them deny it ever happened, others think that it was all too long ago to be relevent.. maybe we need to put 1975 into a slot where we can all relate to it.
maybe those of us who remember that year could chip in as well.. so, what did happen in 1975?
I was born in 1975. So I guess pain, misery, and destruction did appear that year.
it's getting on to almost two years since the events of september 11, and it is striking how little we know about what happened: .
we don't know the real names of any of the hijackers.. we don't know what countries they came from.. we don't know who planned and organized the terrorism.. we don't know who financed it.. we have no idea what actually happened at the pentagon (but i know a boeing 757 didn't go through this hole).
normal video tapes of and from the pentagon building, which should have shown what happened, have never been released (except for one, which poses more questions than it answers).
I have no particular respect for opinions. I think the more people can do to rid themselves of their opinions, the better off we are individually and collectively.
But isn't the above an opinion? But you don't like opinions? <robot voice>DOES NOT COMPUTE!</robot voice>
I do agree that people should get rid of opinions that are completely inflexible. Those people are truly closed minded. But I think it is important to have opinions!
i've shared a bit about my experiences but i don't think i ever gone into much detail.
i'm setting this down as an example of what growing up a witness can be like for any lurkers who have doubts or questions.
i was born into a family of witnesses.
Dr. dear, why are you online? You should be checking out some playboys unless I'm mistaken...LOL!
You're right... I'm gonna go get some playboys to "read" right now!
.
how much do you know about your country (usa) ?
try this quiz.. http://www.usacitylink.com/citylink/usa/default.html?file=/citylink/usa/week11.html
I got 8/10. I missed the liberty bell question and the one about where the first capitol was located.
If anyone answered Betty Crocker for the flag question...
if you saw a serious car accident, and people were trapped in the car, or unconscious in the wreck, would you try to get them out even if the car was on fire and could explode at any moment?.
coming back from quebec city today, i saw a car or truck in the ditch upside down and with lots of smoke coming out of the wreckage.
4 or 5 cars were stopped near by to look at the accident.
Yes, I would most certainly help.
when will stinkypantz be back?
i miss her messages!
it just doesn't feel the same without her witty comments.
And you have yet to imply that "on-a-cru(i)se" has any untoward implications about my character and intentions
Well, that just shows how polite I am! Either that or I can't think of something witty to say...
mine is the old "everything happens for a reason".
when i lost my daughter, i heard this so many times, i seriously thought i was going to punch the next freakin' idiot who said it.
it's just ridiculous.. i also hate the variation "god does everything for a reason".. happyout (whose teeth are still set on edge when she hears that)
"It must have been God's will!"
I also hate it when a young child dies and someone says, "God needed him/her in heaven."
How are those things at all comforting?

"Money doesn't buy happiness."
Yep, that is kinda stupid. Not having enough money is the source of much grief.
