Aid To Bible Understanding on CD?
by VM44 ini saw in englishman's "un-sanitized watchtower publications cd" post a picture of a cd labled "aid to bible understanding".. that is one very thick book, and i would not want to even think of how long it would take someone to scan all the pages and make a pdf document of it!.
for some reason, i liked the aid book better than the more recent 2 volume "insight" book.. is that "aid" cd available?
where could one order it?
-
drwtsn32
The aide book was made available by the wt on floppy disks.
You must mean the Insight Books, right? (The Aide book and Insight books are basically the same thing.) I still have the floppy disks with the NWT and the floppy disks that contained both the NWT and Insight books.
Not too useful since both publications are on the WT LIB CD.

Would you like to know your future?
by JH in.
if it was possible, would you like to know your future, every good thing and bad thing that will happen to you?
would you be too afraid to go and look what your future would be like?

so you couldn't change it?
Basically, but not because the future is already written, but because it would create a paradox.
Say you saw your future and found out that you would die if you went to XX place at YY time. You decide not to go there and avoid certain death. It works! But now that you no longer die at that place and time, how was it that you saw the event happen when you looked into your future? You couldn't have. But if you didn't see that in your future, how did you change the normal course of events?
A simpler one to understand is this: You go back in time and kill your own grandmother before she gave birth to your mother. Your mother no longer exists and neither do you. So how did you go back and kill her? You couldn't have done it, so who killed your grandmother?
The resulting paradox that would occur if someone were to change the past (either by travelling to the past or looking into the future and changing the present) is one reason time travel must not be possible.

Loony Tunes were great. But I prefer The Simpsons or Family Guy characters.

The Revelation book was rediculous... when we studied that book so many times I'd say to myself "now how did they figure THAT out?" I just had to take their word on faith.
The 1985 Evolution book was horrible... full of bad science, misquotes, etc. But it assisted me in leaving the org, so it was a good book in that sense.

Darwin Awards?????????
by heathen ini was watching conan o'brien this evening and they had a lady on who actually gives awards to the dumbest people or their living relatives.
just wondering if anyone here has read it and what they thought about it .
they went over some really idiotic stuff people did that often winds up in someones death .

I have one of the Darwin Awards books. It's pretty funny. They do tell you which stories are confirmed and which are unconfirmed. They also have "notable mentions" where the people do something really dumb but don't exactly die.

Time is cubic, you stupid idiots!!!
by drwtsn32 ini enjoy the guest speakers that appear on tech tv's "unscrewed" show.
in the latest one i watched there was a guy that believes the earth is encased in an imaginary cube, and that this proves there are 4 simultaneous days in a single earth rotation.. http://www.timecube.com.
some quotes from his site:hey stupid - are you too dumb to know there are 4 different simultaneous 24 hour days within a single rotation of earth?.
-
drwtsn32
cube is actually 6 sided
Indeed! The host on Tech TV "Unscrewed" asked him this question and they guy was almost flabbergasted. He replied, "You don't count the top and the bottom! If someone asks you how many sides are in your bedroom, do you say 6? No! You say 4! You don't count the floor and the ceiling!! Duh!" Or something to that effect.
When I emailed this guy, I also asked him why he stops at 4. You could easily say there are 24 simultaneous days... one at 1pm, one at 2pm, one at 3pm, etc., etc. You could break it down even more. There are basically infinite simultaneous days according to his "logic".

New home for Watchtower Bookshelf collection ** 1940-1950's books **
by Jourles ini have put up the recent watchtower books on dirtclod.com for everyone's general use.
instead of putting up the entire collection in one large file, i simply broke down the books individually so you can browse them more easily.
have fun!.

No, because the knowledge of what is supposed to happen would certainly affect my decisions and invariably alter that future. Of course, if I saw a bad thing I'd want to figure out how to avoid it, but the good things would probably be changed too.

This was sooo funny! Like multi-dimensional geometry> Take the cube, push in inside out and then twist. Now add in the inertial reference frame, bake at 6 million degrees F for one and a half eons and what do you get?
I followed all of your directions but got stuck at the 6 million degree thing. My oven only goes up to 500 F. What do I do now?!
