my questions are (besides the obvious): who is going to take the rap eventually for these heretofore unsolved florida murders?
whose innocent lives may yet rot in jail while this now baptized perpetrator goes free to share in field service and attend meetings?
whose victims' families are hoping in vain that this baptized felon gets caught while he is being shielded from "secular" prosecution?
Incredible. The WTS doesn't want the elders to report the murderer because it would undoubtedly "bring reproach on Jehovah's name." And we all know when talking about JWs the phrase "bring reproach on Jehovah's name" means "make the WTS look bad."
Disgusting.

Now this was done with photoshop, right? I hope so...
Nope, it was done with a tire pump.
i have noticed that a lot of you here quote references of history from scripture, so my question is this.
if you say that the bible is not the true word of god then how can it even be a true word of history.
What about prophecies that came true? What say you about prophecies
Name a prophecy that has come true, the time it was fulfilled, and the time the prophecy was believed to be written. Now show me the oldest manuscript we have for that section of the bible. Undoubtedly the manuscript will be younger than the fulfillment date. The most obvious conclusion is that the "prophecy" was put in the bible after it happened, or it was changed to fit events.
Nothing special here....
i keep saying i am going to start a thread on this topic so here goes.... what, if anything, is always morally wrong?
murder, rape, incest?
how much do you think your belief, or lack thereof, in a higher power influences your opinion?.
all I can say is, "yum."
lol... I hadn't refreshed my avatars and that picture was still OTS's dog.

I believe some of the historical accuracy of the bible but I do not believe it to be inspired.
If I were to write a book today, I could make it completely accurate with regards to recent world events. I could also claim it to be inspired. The latter would be false, of course, but it wouldn't automatically make the historicity false.

I'll do the best I can. I am a rape survivor, although, what I experienced would not necessarily be considered a rape by all. During the experience I was held down, completely against my will, and realizing the futility of getting myself out of the situation through sheer force, I consented. I did not give my consent easily, but, in my confused and frantic state I gave it merely as a way out of the situation. Do you understand that not all would consider this a rape because I did give in? Do you see the shades of gray that any moral idea can have?
Hmm... I still would consider what happened to you rape. I don't see how your "consent" makes it any less of a crime. Wasn't your "consent" more of a "giving up" because continuing to fight would have been futile? Do you consider it rape? Have you met anyone that does not consider your experience rape?
I think you guys have been successful in convincing me that it's wrong to think about anything as absolute, but I still think things are gray to different degrees. Child abuse, rape, and some others are mostly black!
Thanks for your response.

from now on I'm just calling you Dr. Watson, kay?
That'll be just fine.
whatever causes the greatest good for the greatest number of people while causing the least harm is the correct thing to do.
That is quite sound... I cannot possibly argue with it.
finding googlewhacks.. your goal: find that elusive query (two words - no quote marks) with a single, solitary result!.
1. your two googlefactors must exist in this dictionary.
it's so easy to confirm: google does the work!
googolplex americium
woo hoo! And these are both spelled correctly. Yeah, this is much harder than it sounds
Edited: Oops... this one seems to violate rule #3. No soup for you!

Expatbrit...very interesting....
You and Azec might yet just shake the last bit of believing in a few moral absolutes out of me.
