  Why is the US so afraid of Social Health Care?

  i just don't get why the us is so afraid of social health care, and is so opposed to the canadian and british models.

  the plain fact is that there are far more americans without access to health care than the combined populations of sweden, norway, denmark and finland.. a measure of the maturity of any society has to be how it sees fit to re-apportion its wealth.. we are quick to criticise african leaders who line their own pockets but leave the masses in poverty but cannot see that blindly following capitalist principles is much the same.

  if we live in a wealthy society then part of that wealth has to be put back into society as a whole.. .

  There is such a division between the two major political parties here. Many people just agree with their party line on issues without understanding or thinking for themselves. (And yes, this does happen on both sides.)

  Others are ideologically opposed to the government doing anything, for they see it as an increase in power/control that the government has over us.

  Also, some of those with good insurance now are afraid that they will have worse health care coverage under a government plan.

  There is certainly a lot of fear mongering with regards to this issue. Spreading FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt) is the quickest way to quell a change like this.

  Has anyone had Lasik Surgery?

  everybody whose had it says great things except their night vision is a lil off.

  i went walking this morning & saw a duck but i thought it was a gopher at first .

  do you know of anybody whose had lasik & is happy or unhappy with the results?.

  I....don't... EEEEven wanna know what a microkeratome is. My eyes are so sensitive....

  Your eyes are completely numbed during the procedure, so there is no pain. You do feel pressure of having the microkeratome device placed on your eye though. You are fully awake but it only takes a few minutes and the procedure is over.

  The first night I did have some discomfort, but it wasn't that bad.

  I think PRK is still sometimes used when your cornea is too thin to cut a flap, but the recovery time is longer with PRK. LASIK is generally the way to go.

  District Convention 2009 Complete Audio Recording. Why not for general distribution?

  i have a complete recording of the 2009 district convention.

  at the beginning, the speaker says that if you do record the convention, you are not to use it for general distribution.. why not?.

  if the assembly is a public event why not get it around as much as possible?.

  I had it done about 6 years ago. Overall I am VERY pleased with the results even after all this time. However, I do have some mild glare problems at night. (Glare is caused by your pupils dialiting out beyond the edge of the "resculped" area of your cornea.)

  My vision is not perfect after all this time though. LASIK will not stop the natural changes in your vision, nor will it do anything to stop presbyopia. Actually it may even accelerate its onset.

  Definitely go to someone with a lot of experience! I went to a doctor who performed thousands of procedures. It was very quick and painless, although some parts of the procedure are a bit unnerving. Like when they use the microkeratome.

  i hated it.

  we actually never really did.. once, on vacations, we were with another family, they prepared food on the table for breakfast .... and then nobody could touch it for some 15 minutes, when daddy was reading daily text and asking childish questions ... family members were raising hands and answering .... we all were hungry... watching the food ... and hoping it will soon be over (i dont mean armageddon, i mean daily text...) i felt just like an idiot..... albert.
