So, what do you call a religion that does this? To call the Watchtower a whore is to pay it a high compliment, as no skanky crack whore would ever sell themself so cheap - for a library card!

i'd like to get comments from people about whether and how much they were shocked, surprised, or otherwise bothered by the watchtower society's becoming an associated non-governmental organization (ngo).. note that i'd like to see these comments because they might lead to some interesting publicity, so please comment accordingly.. alanf

(my apologies if this has already been mentioned, i looked around and didn't see it).
jehovah's witness family seen in toronto.
jehovah's witness girl who's fighting a blood transfusion order will appear in an ontario court on tuesday.
My prediction: Shane Brady and his chronies will suck the remaining life out of this weak victim, by moving her around, accross the continent like a FedEx package, until she is inches away from death. Then she will be returned to competent medical personnel, where she will die shortly after. Then Shane Brady will have the unmitigated gall to claim that the Doctors, and their "evil, unscientific blood transfusion" is what killed her.
That's standard procedure, isn't it? I knew a family who, in the early eighties, had their child legally taken by Children's Aid, and a court order was obtained to give blood transfusions to the child. The child died anyway, and the society used the bereaved parents to spew their cult propaganda at circuit assemblies afterward, saying that the transfusion caused the death. They said from the platform that the doctors, out of spite, deliberately killed the baby by pumping in much more blood than the body could hold, so that blood was pouring out of the child's eyes, ears, etc.
Now, I don't know much (if anything) about blood transfusions, but that sounds like a blatant lie to me.

what if the legal advice that the governing body got to divide up into all those diferent organizations was actually a very clever sceem to take way control from the governing body,, and they fell for it hook line and sinker???
anybody who has been in the legal department at bethel, for just a short time must realize the gb are seriously full of shit.
that's why i think either for selfish reasons or just plane disgust,, some individual or perhaps several individuals could easily play on the fears of the governing body to manipulate them to make huge mistakes, like dividing up into all these different organizations.
You mean we may eventually see several versions of Jehovah's Witnesses?
Scary.

do you think this applies to nice elders too five reasons why nice guys finish last at work.

I think people have contempt for the nice easy-going guy. They secretly think you are a shithead!
Having been on the receiving end of this for most of my life, I have to agree. There is no benefit in being "nice" to people. You end up losing your resources, losing the respect of others, and eventually your own self respect. I've helped a number of people in my life, sometimes at great cost to myself. I can guarantee that, if I died today, not one would attend my funeral. Without exception, they all took what they could get and moved on.

i was recently being ragged on my a jw friend and he was raggin on me for not goin to the meetings.
he said i am foresaking the gathering of ourselves.
i then said where in the bible does it say i must attend 5 meetings a week spread over 3 days?
I said what if there were 20 meetings a week.
If they thought they could get away with having 20 meetings a week they'd do it in a heartbeat.
Anything to maintain the mind control, and to keep the lowly publishers in step with Jehovers chariotlike organization.

i believe that most people are what they are----whether they were jws or are exes.
for example, if you were a basically happy go lucky person in the hall, you probably have that same nature now.
conversely, if you were accused of always complaining and being miserable then, you probably still bitch and moan now.
My personality is the same as it's always been. I just don't surpress it anymore.

I was shocked when I learned about the Watchtower's association with the UN DPI, and what was required of them to maintain this association. For 20 years, at the Watchtower's direction, I was going from door to door "preaching the kingdom", and telling people that the UN was a counterfeit of God's kingdom. I told them it was the "disgusting thing that causes desolation" and that it was set up by Satan to mislead mankind. I told people the same lies the Watchtower told me.
I was very shocked and very angry, but not as angry as when I learned of the child abuse scandal.
Today nothing I hear about the Watchtower could shock me. If someone told me they sent out "hit teams" to whack "apostates" I would not be surprised.
They are capable of anything.

did you miss the privilege of auxiliary pioneering in april?
it's not too late!.
you can do it in may, and here's a sample schedule to help you get your time!
You answered the "marital due" question, but still want to know what Wednesday is reserved for - hall cleaning, quick builds, or golf with the COs?
Every good Pioneer knows that in depth preparation is essential to a successful ministry. You have to take time to decide which "new ones" are worthy of your greeting. Some are predestined to popularity in the congregation, others are not. Some are mere assholes. You must be selective when deciding who you will waste your precious time on. Also, when you yell at your wife and kids you need to take time to meditate on their faults. You don't want it to be the same old thing every week. Endeavor to make the "study" interesting for them.
It takes time to meditate on these matters, and Wednesday is a good time.

edited to say: The scary thing is that I'm sure many JWs actually do this.
i have been listing some old "infromants" (old kingdom ministry) on ebay tonight.
i was typing the topics in the decription and realized that it truely is just a publishing company.
i didn't have to stretch the truth (lol) at all.
Members are called "publisher" and only qualify to be recognized as members if they engage in the distribution of books and magazines the leaders wrote and published and then report that engagement on Field Service Report forms that the leaders published.
("Publisher" is dictionary defined as One that is engaged in publishing printed material.)
The JW use of the word "publisher" didn't sit right with me right from the beginning of my association with them. Too bad I didn't go with my gut and quit my bible watchtower publication study at the time.

a newly discovered fragment of the oldest surviving copy of the new testament indicates that, as far as the antichrist goes, theologians, scholars, heavy metal groups, and television evangelists have got the wrong number.
instead of 666, it's actually the far less ominous 616.
the new fragment from the book of revelation, written in ancient greek and dating from the late third century, is part of a hoard of previously unintelligible manuscripts discovered in historic dumps outside oxyrhynchus in egypt.
I'm surprised that they think the number 616 is something new. When I was a kid (and a Catholic) I bought a copy of the new testament at my church. In Revelation there was a footnote that stated that some of the old manuscripts said 616 rather than 666.
