Quotes, I think they got my email address from the ex jw meetup site. That's the only place I posted this particular address. I was once contacted by a magazine that was going to do an article about Prince and that's where they got it.

jehovah's witness girl who's fighting a blood transfusion order will appear in an ontario court on tuesday.

Has anyone else here had the media try to get in touch with them? I was emailed by Global and City TV, and they wanted to talk to some former JWs. By the time I checked my email it was too late to call phone them but I responded by email.

to me, the 1000 years that jws promise after armageddon is a really dumb doctrine.
basically, everyone who cacked before armageddon is going to be resurrected, and everyone on earth is going to grow perfect during these 1000 years.
then, bastard jehovah is going to let satan loose for "a little while" to basically clean out any evil that is on the earth.. so, what's the point of paradise erf?
Or maybe Satan, Jesus and Jehovah are only make believe.
Hmmm, they sound kind of like a trinity here. Maybe their all in cahoots and just playing games with us. Kinda like kids with ants and magnifying glasses.

i always hated being alone on thanksgiving or christmas.
what bothered me was that if it were known you accepted an invitation by relatives it was frowned upon.
but what got to me was this: is god more pleased that i am home looking at four walls alone rather than being over somebody's house??
I have seen this in the "truth" and in the "world".
Yes, I've seen it everywhere too. But it seems to happen more among the JWs, at least in my experience. I ran with a pretty rough crowd before I was a JW, but even the worst of them seemed to have a better sense of what was decent than most JWs I knew. If I were hungry I know damn well that the most hardened ex-con would feed me before a JW elder would. Been there.

He's apparently already doing that so Jehovah can determine people's heart conditions.
Supposedly he can do that anyway, so why go through all the crap? Just so people can suffer?
Nice.

BUT just let there be a rumor that you had a boyfriend or whatever and then you got a phone call.
I got phone calls many times. Every time someone was moving I got a call. Every time someone had computer problems I got a call. They always knew who I was when there was a gift or money to contribute, or some physical labor to be done. There was plenty of upbuilding association - upbuilding for everyone but me.
They didn't care if you drew your next breath;
Exactly!

In my hall a lot of people would get out of town if there was a long weekend or other holiday. If you belonged to a clique you might get invited to go with them. People like me usually sat on our asses at home. But very few would go in service on those days.

as i was reading the thread about not at homes i wondered if anyone else a slacker pioneer?.
there was a bunch of us in our hall that went out on a wednesday.
we usually managed about 45mins before needing a coffee which somehow extended through lunchtime, maybe interupted by a return visit that hopefully wasn't home.

You sound like you were a zealous pioneer. The service overseer in my first hall would start doing "street work" at 7 AM with his wife. They would actually show up at 7:30, but they assured everyone they started their time at 7:00. We all knew better. After standing like signposts for 5 minutes they'd go into the restaurant for breakfast and stay there until 8:55. They'd stand like signposts for another 5 minutes, look at their watches and loudly proclaim, "ok, we got 2 hours", and they'd leave.

that obituary post reminded me of those awful weekday mornings knocking on entire neighborhoods of not-at-homes.
i remember one particular neighborhood in florida where it was one big trailer park of "snowbirds" who would move back up north for the summer.
however, being the thorough jws that we were, we would knock on every single door, leaving magazines, etc, even if the awnings were down and it was obvious no one would be livng there for months.
Not at homes were great. I was in a congregation that was mainly populated by assholes, and I felt bad about inviting normal people to come join us.
Walter
since you either left the organisation or started to objectively examine wts doctrine.
Do any of Jehovah's Witnesses actually have a relationship with Jesus? He is mentioned in articles and talks, and his name is used at the end of their prayers, but they're not allowed to actually pray to him. How can you have a relationship with someone you don't talk to?
As far as my own relationship with him, I haven't tried to have one. I don't know if it's possible for me to pray or read the bible without watchtower crap coming back to mind.
