As a witness did you secretly celebrate holidays?

when i was a witness i knew of many who would either celebrate certain holidays in secret or make up for them some other way.

such as, family day ( christmas ) costume parties ( halloween ), i even knew several who made it a point to go see the fireworks on the 4th of july.

my mother told a wife of an elder that she always felt weird on mother's day for not sending a card to her mom, because her mom expected one.

I went out to celebrate some of the holidays with friends from work. Not that I cared anything for the holidays. I was just interested in the party, whatever the occasion.

Whats you favorite drink?

i just had a really bad day at work.

apart from what you'd normally expect from a 15 hr shift, tonight vitually everything that could go wrong did.

when i got home i decided to have a drink(the first since emans barbie!!!

You're right, I like just about anything, with the exception of gin, after shave, and anti-freeze.

I like lager in summer, dark beer in winter, scotch or cognac in fall and winter. In spring I like any of these.

as we all know, the lord jehovah causes expectation to arise regarding certain dates.

these expectations have usually resulted in the members of the organization, erroneously, expecting the apocalypse to arrive on those dates.

1914 was such a year.

There was a spiritual event that took place in 1975. A False Prophet was EXPOSED YET AGAIN!!!

i am so surprised that the society has counsel on learning the klingon language.

Such extreme behavior does not harmonize with the Bible’s counsel at 1 Peter 1:13: "Keep your senses completely ["keep balanced," footnote]."

Really, this could probably be applied to many of the WTS beliefs and practices. Does that mean they won't inheirit the kingdom of god either?

Organized To Accomplish Our Ministry - what happened to this book?

i have a question for you all.

why has there been so little mention of the organized to accomplish our ministry book?.

for those of you that remember, the book is green with gold letters.

This was never a study book to my knowledge. It was only given to people who were baptised or preparing for baptism. I remember a few times when a small part of it was discussed at a service meeting, but no real mention of it for quite some time.

I heard they would be releasing a new version, but nothing yet. It's probably time though, considering all the changes since it was originally released.

For a religion that doesn't believe in evolution, their beliefs evolve at near-light speed.
