Is It Me Or Are There More Sex Crimes Against Kids Like Never Before?

either this has been going on for years and was never talked about or there is a rash of internet child porn, arrangements for sick underage sex, and family sex abuse.

i read 3 news events in the last couple of days with this constantly happening.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but even only a generation or two ago if someone was attracted to girls in their early teens one had outlets that either don't exist or are highly risky. Some of our great-grandfathers and even grandfathers were marrying girls fourteen or younger. It was socially acceptable and legal. In the 19th Century it was the plauge in child prostitution which drove the changes in Age-of-Consent, but there was no difference between the punishment for having sex with an 18 year old and a 14 year old prostitute..

We see more because what passed as everyday in our great-grandfathers day is now considered bad, but that hasn't stopped it happening.

Now it's pretty obvious why AOC has risen - education takes longer, society is more complex. A 12 year-old might be considered a worthy apprentice in 1880. He'd be as capable in that world as an eighteen year-old is in ours. Now men attracted to teenage girls screw up young women's lives, rather than probably taking her to tea with the neighbours.

So whilst it appears more prominent, it's probably no more frequent, and quite probably better than most of the 19th Century... and the victims today are freer to speak out... but that doesn't mean there weren't as many in the 50's that suffered in silence.

pop superstar prince will reportedly appear on american idol to both coach contestants and perform on the hit tv series - in a bid to maintain high album sales.

the notoriously shy star has just released his latest lp, 3121, which debuted at the top of the us billboard chart.

according to pagesix.com, executives from prince's record company convinced him to appear on the show to keep the album at the top of the charts, after noting a huge spike in album sales when barry manilow appeared on the program earlier this year.

Of course you don't see how you're out of line... that's the entire point!

I also love, as has been pointed out, that whilst coming high and mighty you haven't contributed anything tangible to the discussion at hand.

If you have a case regarding the authenticity or otherwise of the gospels, state it. Otherwise you are all talk and no trousers. An implied argument from authority ("have you read x type of writers") simply implies they somehow know better, without actually demonstrating it like what people do in conversation. It's no different to saying "well, x says otherwise" and not actually engaging in a debate but using fallacious argumentation to make it look as though you have a point.

Example;

"The Seahawks suck, this guy says so".

Dull. Stupid. Boring. Undiscussable. Unreasoned. Dismissive.

"The Seahawks suck because x, y,z etc..

Reasoned. Engaging. Intellectually challenging. Debatable."

I am sure you are a nice guy who treat animals well etc., but you're really missing the point here...

Good thoughts Abaddon, but you fail to address the fact that humans who live in welfare states such as England have in effect taken thenselves out of the evolutionary model.

Sorry mate, sixty years cannot overcome thousands. And the welfare state is part of the extended genotype humans have created to increase the average chances of survival of a population, like towns, clean drinking supplies and extinction of dangerous species. What you see taking an organism OUT of the evolutionary model is actually PART of the species evolutionary model.

However, 'white trash' (what ever their colour) tend to breed more than well educated people with a decent income. Whether coucil estate brats with criminal fathers would fare better in a neolithic environment than the son of a barrister is an interesting question... maybe Endemol should do their next reality project on exactly that?

Yes, they do look alike - to us. But animals can tell each other apart even if we can't. Sheep (a spectaulary stupid animal) can tell bewteen herd members and non herd members when shown their photographs, for example.

There isn't one. It appears most likely genetic gayness is primarily on the X chomosome, so men having it is just a side working of whatever the bloody genes do elsewhere, not a survival characteristic in itself. Gayness caused by pre-natal hormonal exposure simply makes gender b act like gender a, so again, there's no reproductive rational.

I suppose it depends on what you mean by 'ugly'.

In all cultures, whether they like skinny women or voluptuous women, men like women whose waists are 0.7 the measurement of their hips. Women with a classic hourglass shape have higher fertility than those who don't.

Good skin means good health means good genes.

Clear eyes means good health means good genes.

Men find legginess attractive because adolescent females undergoing their growth spurt tend to go through a phase of legginess which indicates that they are also about to enter their highest level of fertility.

Well-shaped ass and breast means a women can bear a child and feed it.

A symmetrical face indicates a genome or prior development that gives an organism greater strength; children become less symmetrical the more children a mother has.

Closely related people are likely not to find anything sexually attractive about each other's body smell. Higher levels of compatibility are thought to be behind how some people just smell good to others, fresh out of a shower.

With men, the characteristic 'male' attributes correlate to elevated levels of testosterone.

People normally have relationships, all things being equal, with someone as attractive as them. Give a group separate photos of couples and they will group then together correctly far more often than chance would allow.

Good looking people turn us on because what looks good looking to us is a set of characteristics indicating a person possessing them is healthy, fertile, in possession of good genes and capable of fulfilling their evolutionary gender role.

Of course, we are self-aware, which means we can buck the programming... but it is still there...
