This would have been about the time they rebuilt the factory complex to accomodate the new printing presses they bought. I remember a supplament in the Kingdom Ministry about the new presses and how big and fast they were, and how this would enable more simplification and enable priniting at the French and Germn bethels to be transfered to London. I believe this was built on land already owned adjoining the old factory, and have no idea what the new land in another area would be for.

Could you please tell me how far Newcastle is from your place??
So, what would be the best way to get there then?? Is there a train service??
Newcastle is about 300 miles/5hrs drive from Weston-Super-Mare, and its a nightmare to do on public transport. Me and my girlfriend will be driving down leaving Newcastle Friday teatime and returning late Sunday, if you need a lift.

Did your KH sound system ever pick up CB radio?
by MungoBaobab ini remember mine did, way back in the early- to mid-80's.
it was always funny to all of a sudden hear a trucker hollering out the f-word in the middle of the service meeting!
man, if could only imagine the deer-in-the-headlights look of panic in the eyes of the elders.

In my area most of the Kingdom halls were getting radio mikes to use for the audience. When I was working as a sound lighting engineer we often used to get problems because there was only 4 main frequencies used by our mikes and they used to clash with others used in the venue, we had to make sure they all got turned off before our show began. It would be so easy to buy a radio mike and a few diffents crystals, and stand outside a hall til you found the correct frequency to broadcast your own version of the meetings over the sound system..........

Lawyers Who Deal With Disfellowshipping
by dh inis there a directory of lawyers who have experience in helping jw's with judicial df'ing issues?
what i mean by helping, is a lawyer who knows the df procedure, and will inform the elders that he/she will be attending the judicial meeting with the person etc.
if the elders refuse point blank to allow it, then a lawyer who knows how to pressure them so that they cannot announce the disfellowshipping or ever speak about it, as it would be slander would be very useful.. i think that there should be (may already be) lawyers out there who up to speed on this, and if they aren't, they should be brought up to speed by us, the ex jw community on what to expect from judicial meetings, and on the whole jw procedure of disfellowshipping etc.

The way to deal with this is to have a lawyer accompany you to the judicial committee meeting, or to carry a tape recorder with you. They will refuse to conduct the hearing in those circumstances, so you give them a legal letter informing that you are fully prepared to meet with them but only in appropriate circumstances (ie, recorded or with a lawyer) and if try to take any action against you without first meeting with you then you will sue them individually for slander and defamation of character. Make sure you state that you do not want to be disfellowshipped and are not dissassociating yourself. Most elders would back off at this, classing you as an apostate but not take any formal action.

There was an article in a UK newspaper the other day about people not being able to cancel their holidays to the region because of the disaster, the insurance companies were refusing to accept it as a valid reason for cancellation. One young couple were geting married last sunday and were due to fly out there as their honeymoon. Until the newspapers stepped in on their behalf they were going to lose £4500 by not taking their honeymoon.
On the other hand, they also had a story about others who skipped going back to their home country in order to stay and help with the clean up. Those people deserve a free when they get home. Maybe two.
This was a point made by one of the releif organisers on the news this morning. The releif workers are going to be traumatised by some of the things thay are seeing and are going to require support when they finally arrive home.
