by Englishman inthis is for all of you loverly people who responded to my thread wherein i was concerned about my big tomcat, george.
remember how concerned i was that he kept rolling in the mud, especially in the rain, then traipsing indoors and spreading the mud everywhere?
we were all worried that he might have some illness that was causing him to do this?.

It is also why you get poor illustration that have poorly illustrated elements like cloth and hair where people think they see the boogie men, dog heads, and devil faces.
That would account for a lot of the images (I personally don't think too much of the ones you have to rearrange/fold etc to be able to see), but as Sirona said it still leaves some images unexplained. What about pictures like the one in the revelation book where the man in a group of people is normal apart from a deformed devils claw instead of one of his hands. It doesn't take any manipulation or imagination to be able to see it, its plainly visible.

Information Versus Misinformation
by minimus ini think we must be careful in assuming that anything is "new" or "changed" regarding policies of the society or for that matter regarding anything that we assert is absolutely true, unless we have some facts to back it up.
why give misinformation and post it as fact?
i think that we should be cautious in this regard.

Is the society shooting themselves in the foot with the new DF policy?
by truth_about_the_truth inlet's face it, it seems like a simplification of the df process as many of you have already mentioned.. within the 6 million or so jw worldwide, there has to be a good number of ppl that are on the fringes of being dfed.
in the past, it took time to technically df these ppl because of the no-shows at judicial hearings and appeals.
also dfing a person can be delayed when no actual proof can be provided of the sin committed.

My 2 cents.......
I don't think there is a new df policy, just a new da one. Firstly, its much easier to get da'd by your actions. Its down in black and white so the elders have a green light to go ahead and do it without feeling like they're being heavy handed. And the change in announcement will be the main difference. People will not be shocked that someone has da'd themselves and turned their back on Jehovah, they will assume they were df'd and the rumor mill will go into overdrive.
And of course, somebody who da's will have no legal recourse against the society like somebody who is wrongly df'd. You can't sue someone else for something you did yourself. Could the elders be encouraged by the wbts to da rather than df wherever possible as a legal protection for themselves?

Do you rent direct from the landlord or do you use a management agency? In the UK its compulsery for all landlords to have a current Gas safety certificate(valid for 12 months), but most local managment agencys also require you to have an electrical certificate too. If its the same in Canada can you ask to see the safety certificate? I'm a landlord, and the main risk for me is that if I leave something unsafe in the house then I'm liable to get sued if the householder gets injured by it unless I can prove I took reasonable steps to prevent it. I would get an independant electrical inspection on the cooker, and confront the landlord with the findings reminding him of how open he is leaving himself to be sued in case of an accident.
Also, in the UK you can legally withhold part of the rent if something is out of action, if its the same in Canada that might be an incentive to fix it sooner rather than later.

no one ever let their kids die
by jaffacake inmy soon to be baptised friend has started talking to me since i said i might study with jws.
he tells me some people really believe jws have let their kids die over the blood issue.
i suggested that may have been the case in the past but he says it is all lies.

2 local examples for you;
About 15 yrs ago a friend of mine from Berwick-upon-Tweed congregation was hit by a fast moving car on a country road as he made his way home from school. It was a 4x4, and he bounced off the bonnet, off the roof of the car, onto the trailer, then down onto the road and left for dead by the driver. He was in intensive care for quite a while, and had lots and lots of operations to save his life. The Drs had to take out a court injunction to force the family to accept a blood transfusion to save his life, he would have died otherwise. Incidently, none of the family involved are now witnesses. I'm back in contact now with his brother who I was good friends with growing up so might be able to get more information on this if you want it.
And about 6-7 years ago there was a sister in Sunderland who died in childbirth after refusing a blood transfusion. It was all over the local papers at the time, perhaps you could find out more by doing a search in the Evening Chronical/Sunderland Echo archives.

I'm soooo pi$$ed.....need help..
by morty ini hope someone can help me with this one............................ i finally got the money together to take a holiday to see my sister out west.
i also booked this flight to have my son come along with me as he has never flown before...he was soo excited and so was i.we planned a 8 day trip for the march break and planned on finally seeing the mountains and checking out the biggest mall in the world..... we booked our flights and used my debit card to purchase the tickets and 10 hours later, the company we booked the tickets with ( jetsgo) went bankrupt!!!!!!.

In the UK we pay a tax on each flight/holiday to ABTA which protects you incase of something like this happening, do you have a similar scheme in Canada?
Or can your bank help you, with some credit cards if the item is stolen/not provided they can refund you your money and refuse to pass on the payment to the company involved. Maybe you could put the case to your bank that it was money obtained by fraud because the company would have been aware of their financial situation?

This would have been about the time they rebuilt the factory complex to accomodate the new printing presses they bought. I remember a supplament in the Kingdom Ministry about the new presses and how big and fast they were, and how this would enable more simplification and enable priniting at the French and Germn bethels to be transfered to London. I believe this was built on land already owned adjoining the old factory, and have no idea what the new land in another area would be for.
