Information Versus Misinformation

I think we must be careful in assuming that anything is "new" or "changed" regarding policies of the Society or for that matter regarding anything that we assert is absolutely true, unless we have some facts to back it up. Why give misinformation and post it as fact? I think that we should be cautious in this regard.

You mean that the society comes out with new books, but actually nothing changes.

"Apostates" are given enough crap. We don't need to say things without foundation.

On another thread purplesofa made this very insightful comment.

Oh well, maybe they just don't wnat the congregation to know if a person is out by choice or force.

Now that is a reason for the non policy change/announcement change I can sink my teeth into. They dont want people knowing if we are have walked away or forced out.

I think the policy change has a two-fold reason:

    1. Legal reasons, DFed and DAed announcements can result in slander lawsuits.
    2. Hiding how many people leave as opposed to being kicked out.

Really, when was the last time the society came out with something "new"? Any changes I've seen them make were more like damage control rather than something "new".

I doubt the society ever had an original thought that they didn't borrow from someone else and distort.

    3. Definitely. People are starting to sue individual elders for slander once they figured out that the society is just too hard to pin down with the current body of law. This should give them the ability to try to side step the issue. However, since the OM states that the announced ones are to be treated as disfellowshipped ones, it'll only confuse the issue for a little while and then the lawsuits will continue...

If I still believe in Jehovah, and witness about him, how is it not slander for them to announce that I'm no longer a witness of jehovah? Please, if I have a valid argument here I will no doubt use it when I am forced out of the congo.
