Damn, that's creepy. I would go as far as to say that is stalking
And this is the groups a lot of the anti-cult websites say used to be clased as a cult but have now cleaned up their act! Seems like they've still got a lot of dodgy practices........
i've just been reading an article online about mormons, where when they just leave the church there is a department that tries to track them down to try and get them to return to the faith.
has the jws ever done this?.
"we could use more volunteers," said price.

Church won't give up on 'lost members'
On LDS rolls: Volunteers spend time tracking down those who are 'in transit,' hoping to bring them back
By Matt Canham The Salt Lake Tribune |
Her father immersed her in LDS Church baptismal waters at the standard age of 8. Within three years, Tamara's family stopped attending The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, feeling unwelcome in their new congregation. And in 1994 at the age of 23, she married a man who was never baptized a Mormon. She drifted away to a new home, with a new last name, in a new neighborhood where no one realized that her name remains on the membership rolls. Tamara joined the ranks of Utah's lost Mormons - a sizable group. One-tenth of Utah Mormons have their membership records in the LDS Church's "address unknown file," a clearinghouse for those who have stopped attending one ward - a basic congregation - but have not shown up at another. The church keeps such a file for every state and country where members live, identifying the lost by their last known address. All together, Utah's lost Mormons equal the population of Salt Lake City, about 180,000. In an interview with The Salt Lake Tribune, LDS Church general authority Merrill Bateman provided unprecedented detail about the LDS Church's address unknown file and the desire to locate the people he refers to as "in-transit Mormons." "We really don't give up on people," said Bateman, a member of the Quorum of the Seventy, one of the LDS Church's governing bodies. "As long as they have not asked to have their names taken off the rolls of the church, we have a responsibility toward them and believe in time . . . we will be an influence to help them find their way back." But not everyone wants to come back. Tamara, who now lives in Riverton, sure doesn't. "I just wish you can be left alone to believe what you

if you had a chance to make a documentary about some aspect of the jws, what would ou choose?
would you talk about shunning, the blood issue, explain how its a cult, or what?
unfortunately this would only be for an 8 minute segment on a current affairs programme so i need something that'll get peoples attention and make them think without having to go too deep into the subject.. what would you choose to talk about?.
I'd like to see a documentary on their " Twelve Step " program, if you will, on how they initially bring someone into the " flock' and through their well defined indoctrination turn people into WT slaves - physically and emotionally.
How would relate the Watchtower to the Twelve step programme? I was actually talking about that to a friend of mine who is investigating a cult in London that uses the twelve steps.
At the minute my idea for the dicumentary is talk about my experiences of shunning, and then to explain how great an effect it had due to the amount of control the watchtower has over JW's. Once the control is shown, I can show how this relates to scandals such as peadophiles, un, finances, 607, etc. What do you think?

i want to view some videos.
i need a flash player plugin to view them.
i went to macromedia, downloaded flash player 7. i got the "confirmation" video that plays on screen after the download is complete.
On Macromedia 7, do you have it set to play the type of video you are trying to download as default? Or how about downloading it and saving to your desktop, then rightclicking and under properties changing the program it opens with to Maromedia flash player 7?

social death: the practice of disfellowshipping among jehovah's witnesses
many societies establish rules or norms for inclusion in their membership.
adherence to the established norms permits full membership in the group.
I knew when I left I would lose everything. That is the only reason I stayed as long as I did. And sadly I think that is true for many.
Thats the way it was for me. Thanks for posting this article. I'm just starting studying Psychology, and building a library on cults/thought reform to hopefully try and become more involved, would you mind if I included this in it?

Always seem to be this way, about 50% take it serious and the rest do not and it all falls apart.
I take that into account in the way I organise it. Just before the draw I double check with everyone who has sent their details to make sure they still want to be included, anyone who doesn't reply it taken out the draw. Its worked out very well doing it this way the last 2 years I've been doing it. Paul
