Hindsights a great thing, theres loads of things I would go back and change if I could. But what if you found yourself in a similar situation in the future, what would you do differently?

Giving a Talk on JW's
by aniron ini have been asked to give a talk on the jw's, about 30-45 mins long.. but there is so much i would like to say that it could end up being either very long or boring or both.
if you had to give a talk about jw's to a group of people who really had no idea about jw beliefs and culture.
what would you included ?.

I'm doing this in June at a pagan camp. I'm going to focus on unethical methods of persuasion, and how they fit the criteria to be a cult. My main point is how they can identify the warning signs of an unsafe group, as demonstrated by my experiences with jws, and so how they can protect themselves from being sucked into a similar group whether it be religious, business, psychotherapy, political or whatever.

What did YOU do during the downtime?
by LittleToe inso, if i'm not much mistaken jwd was just down for over 24 hours - the longest time i can remember in over four years of posting here.

Disfellowshipped but sister in the 'truth' to be married soon
by cyberdyne systems 101 injust wanted to start a topic on an event that will occur sometime later this year - namely my sister is to be married.
she is a witness as is her boyfriend, none of his family are in but only myself and my dad are not (he has never joined) from my sister imediate family.
so i was wondering what to expect, what experiences people here have had being someone who has left and then later been disfellowshipped, and then finding they might be invited to a witness wedding?

This was a big issue when I got married. The elders tried to call off the wedding 6 weeks before the date because of it. My brother was not df'd, but was known to be homosexual. In the end he and his his partner were allowed to attend the ceremony at the hall and the private family meal in the afternoon, but not the open invatation evening party.

Apparently #10 Springhill blue and #10 Springhill green from any stationary supplier are identical to those used by the wbts.
