Apparently the material is available anyway, but it has to be paid for.
Do they get the material for free if they are an NGO, or do they still have to pay? How much money would they have been saving?

what was the true motive for the wts joining the un?
what did they have to gain?
i've done research, but have yet to find an answer to my question.

i was just reading moxy's post "biggest mathematical miracle in the world" .
and as i was reading all the logical reasons why it would have been impossible at least physically impossible, for that many israelites not to mention even one, to wonder through the desert 40 years and not leave a trace of their even having been there.. the only thing that seems to be more incredible then that is how many people on earth believe it.
regardless of weather it's true or not what is it that continues to inspire millions and billions of people to continue to believe?

i remember being told that one of the reasons jehovah rejected ancient isreal was that they had put too much emphasis on the 'oral torah', that is, they placed more importance on the laws they came up with themselves rather than the mosaic law they had received from jehovah.
isn't that the same situation we have today with the wbts, and so wouldn't they be rejected by jehovah because of this?
how does the society explain this one?

Edited for spelling.... again!
did it ever bother you when the watchtower published magazines praising doctors, nurses, policeman, etc., but yet discouraged witnesses from having these jobs either because they took up too much time or because they involved violence.
i'm talking front page-cover stories here.
of course they did it to draw outsiders in, but the hypocrisy of these people, it baffles me sometimes.
but yet discouraged witnesses from having these jobs either because they took up too much time or because they involved violence.
They discourage people from having jobs that can involve violence? I've never heard of this, and never had anything said to me about my job. A lot of people were interested in it, and gave me more respect when they found out what it was.

how much vacation do you get per yr?
according to this article, hard working americans get 8 days off.vacations are being downsized by the same forces that brought us soaring work weeks: labor cutbacks, a sense of false urgency created by tech tools, fear and, most of all, guilt.
managers use the climate of job insecurity to stall, cancel and abbreviate paid leave, while piling on guilt.
Generally federal government pay is thought to be less than the private sector, but the vacation and holidays are pretty hard to beat.
I work for the uk government, and would not do my job for the pay and conditions in the private sector. They get a lot less money, and the working conditions are terrible.

I'm working nightshifts at the minute, so I work 7 nights then have a week off. On top of this I get the equivalent of 36days leave, although if my shift falls on a national holiday I have to work it.

ok, i'm a single female in her early 30s looking for someone to settle down with.
i'd like to have kids, but the trouble with dating guys who are over 30 is that by now most have a kid and/or have decided they don't want any/more.
so i am getting faced with the dilemma of maybe finding that someone special, but he may not want to have kids.
I've found if I go looking for a partner, ect I never meet anyone I like, but if I just carry on myself not being bothered either way I always meet loads of people.
Should I rule out the chance of having kids, in order to give myself more choices in finding a life partner? Or should I not worry about those who don't have the same goals regarding children, and find someone who is, even though that greatly reduces the chances of finding a decent guy?
I don't think you should give up having kids just to get a man. It would always be brought up in fight, ect, because it would mean so much to you.

the 'flock' book (elders manual) makes this quite clear and upon arriving at your judicial hearing one of the first questions you will be asked is whether you have any recording/transmitting equipment with you.. however, most jw's will have never seen - or even heard of - the 'flock' book.
do a search on the wt cd on recording meetings and you will see that it all pertains to the recording of meetings at the kingdom hall and conventions and that any brother wishing to make such recordings is free to do so so long as the recording equipment is not attached to the society's equipment.
the one question of propriety that is raised has to do with recording prayers.
Everyone whose made a recording of a jc - Have you got the transcripts? I'd love to have a read of some of them. Simon, is there a way that somebody could post them without having to reveal themselves? Some might not want the juicy details of what they got DF'd for being made public unless it could not be linked to them.
