  in a post by syn that lady lee has brought up again, there is this statement by syn.

  i could underline my watchtower in 10 minutes, tops, and be sure that all the answers were right.

  many esteemed researchers have shown that repetitive imprinting of ideas is a primary cult tactic, and i tend to agree with them.

  i just went through the topic that leftbehind started.

  i'm almost relieved he didn't come back to read the tongue lashing so many of you posted.. a person comes here and believes all the apostate crap that we used to believe.

  I've been thinking about this sort of thing for a while, the ethics of apostacy. People are held in the jws by phobias, trigger words that pull them back into the cult think. I think theres a fine line between doing something to help a jw get out, and going too far and triggering a phobia that sucks them back in and reinforces their faith.

  If someone wants help, there is plenty here to be had.

  There is plenty to be had, but the person first needs to realise that they need help to be able to look for it. The methods of persuasion used in groups like jws make it so they don't realise just how powerfully they are being manipulated. If something is harmful, is it less harmfull because the person doesn't realise its happening? And if you saw somebody walking into danger and could do something to prevent it, would you just let them carry on and do nothing?

  If you go out looking for it and its all you do, then you might be a slave of it, but if something falls in your lap, all it takes for evil to prevail is enough good men to do nothing.

  I think that when people like that come to the site and vent, then its no good venting back because all that does is convince them that what the wbts said about apostates is true and stops them from looking at any other material. If you had a puppy that didn't know any better and urinated on your floor, would you kick it or housetrain it?

  Nasal Surgery

  i had a septoplasty, turbinate shaving, & removal of a nasal bone spur this last monday.

  i almost posted that i was going to have a procedure and ask that you all keep me in your thoughts.....but, thought that compared to what some here are going through, that this would be nothing at all.

  has anyone here had similar surgery?

  I look at it as some guy's attempt to justify the heinous act of rape. ; Writing a command as if it came ;from his God -- the pillagers and rapists were kinda trying to cover ;their tracks...

  I agree, but that oppinion is very different to the jw's claim that the bible is the word of god and is to be trusted in everything.

  Disturbing Information Passed on in Annual Elders Meeting?

  as you all may know, the elders around america have had (or will have) their annual meetings.

  you know, the ones where they are trained and brought up to date about the whole scheme of things.. anyway, an elder who i happen to be close to was telling me yesterday that some troubling/disturbing things has been going down in congregations worldwide.

  he also mentioned that it will be mentioned in watchtowers and km's in the next few months.. anyone know what he may be talking about?

  I know (seriously) what it is . There are apostates in our midst. People like me really piss them off. We appear to be loyal at the Kingdom Hall but post on boards like this - how do I know - well I can not tell you as it may identify me

  I think they're right, this is very disturbing information. This is going to make everyone paranoid and watch everybody else at the hall very very closely, and report any possible 'apostates' to the elders for them to be 'helped'. People who are just cruising along at the minute will think its proof the end is close and take a much more active part. Whether intentional or not, this is only going to increase the hold the wbts has on people.

  The Secret Santa is still on! I've had a really busy week so not been able to do much, but everything is still on track.

  I'll be pm'ing everyone who signed up within the next week to make sure they're still wanting to take part, and then sending out details of who to send the gift to during the week beginning Sunday 19th November.

  If anyone else wants to join in with this don't forget to send me your details, I'm gonna have to stop accepting more names in a week or 2 or people won't have time to select and post a gift in time.
