Where can I find the terms of use for this app? do they exist, or do we just blindly trust everything that is available on iTunes? I've had to uninstall apps that have turned out to contain "features" that I did not know they had, and would really like to review exactly what it in this app before I put it on the device I use for personal and financial matters.

Internet VS WTS
by joe134cd inok here is another spin on the wt verses the internet argument, and this time i'm going to be pro-wt.
i have read articles and seen graphs that show in countries that have high internet penetration, growth rates diminish.
this is used to support the idea that the information age is killing the wt.

Ok Jeffro, if you say so... You're using much bigger words than I am, so you must know. My husband is a programmer, but he has never done any programming in this environment yet. I am the first to admit that I have a lot to learn. I hope I am wrong.
I still don't think you can be too careful.
I would highly recommend reading the user agreement in its entirety, unless it comes from a source you can trust. The devil is in the details and in the fine print.

The WTS has hacked into JWN and locked us out!
I'm sure they've also stolen all of our passwords and gained access to out bank accounts as well. this is bad news for me, since they will now know that I have been shopping at goodwill again. Nooooo.... Now my mother will never speak to me again!

will it be high enough to register on any third party lists of what's hot?.
can you imagine what the wts would make of it being on the front page of the app store?.

Jeffro, you're absolutely correct. I'm not a programmer. My husband is, but not yet in this environment. I spoke out of turn, and didn't mean to falsely accuse or suspect that the WTS would ever be guilty of any wrongdoing. it is actually good news that they are now pushing the JW's to go electronic. They will have more information in front of them. That is good.
I admit, I do love a conspiracy. I didn't mean to start any rumor or malicious gossip. I will make no more mention of my suspicions And personal observations.
I'm still not going to install this app. I think we have an assumption of privacy, that does not exist. Teenagers today have been raised on the Internet and are so used to every detail anod photo being shared with the world, they won't even blink when they realize what it happening. The WTS is already looking forward to the new generation.
It will be interesting to see how this all unfolds.

Jeffro: "They probably won't try to track actual location, but if the JW app requests access to your device's location services function (i.e. GPS), just say NO." Recent news about the amount of information being tracked and stored by the NSA, is an indicator that they can not only track and store your personal communications, but also use the microphone and camera on your device, at will. I'm not suggesting the WTS would do that, of course, but it is possible to do this without your knowledge. Our assumption of privacy, is not an accurate one. Always assume they are watching and listening... Install their app, and you will just be opening another door into your private life. Carefully read the user agreement before installing anything, especially a device you carry with you all the time. It is possible, although I'm sure the WTS has no interest in anyone's personal and private matters. They will leave these things in the hands of Jehovah to decide at harvest time.

The real reason for the push to get children baptized.......
by EndofMysteries ini think the real reason is that many when they are in their teens and able to start thinking for themselves end up leaving by the time they get out of home, never baptized, and still continuing assocation with their family.
the wt doesn't like this loophole, so they are hoping to get them baptised before their teen years so that if they wake up and decide to leave, they will be dfed.
hoping to keep them trapped and be trapped before they understand the religion.

The more baptized children, the faster their numbers increase. One thing I notice about the JW's.. They love to keep score.
If they are not baptizing the kids, where else are they going to find new members? From the world? Hahaha

I am going to take the patriotic stand in this discussion.
I think that the Internet has been, and will continue to be a thorn in the foot for the WTS. This is especially true in America, where we cling to our freedom.
JW or not, US citizens can not avoid exposure to the idea that we are all red-blooded and born with certain inalienable rights... LIBERTY being the one we hold most dear. No matter what they may say aloud, Americans can't help having this feeling of entitlement and self-empowerment. The message surrounds us, and no matter your political views, this freedom is precious to you. (If it's not, "please leave!" is the subheading).
As the GB continues to bang their fists harder, forbidding JW's to use their own brains, more of them are going to wake up and realize their in-born potential to think, speak and read whatever they choose. This system is not set up for controlling information or people. Not in these United States of America!
Seeing teen JW's studying the WT on tablets, is a significant sign of their loss of control. The WTS seems to be taking on the philosophy of, "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em," when it comes to the Internet. First with the inception and growing use of the blessed websites, now consolidated Into one JW. Org.
Their creation of this new app, being released on Monday, will likely turn into an attempt to replace the online library and the contents of jw org, and then all the information will be automatically piped into every JW's mobile device. This will end the need for an honest-hearted JW to ever go online. They can create their own little online world, feeding the sheep in real time with this new app. Instructions can come quickly, when the end of this evil system is obvious and present. Apostasy can be swiftly identified, with their tracking features that are certainly included in this JW Mobile app.

This is a good observation. A few questions should be Considered.
JW's who attempt to reach the far corners of the earth, are going there to deliver one specific message.
How many people are using Wikipedia to spread or receive the "good news"? Does the Internet reach the entire inhabited earth? When it does, wil the first message received by new readers, be the gospel of Christ?
I think you might be comparing apples to oranges, but I like your point.

I'm also willing to bet the blessed app will include some spyware And there will be lots of automatic updates, and maybe they will grant themselves access to your cloud!
