Elder harassed my mom and asked for donation

nonetheless, elder showed up at her place and instead providing her with comfort he started to harass her that her faith is weak, she does not put trust in jah, etc.

ShirleyW, I am totally out. Problem is that I live in another country and I can do so much over the distance. However, entire my family is in WT cult, my siblings, cousins, my mom's relatives (three-four generations), and now my niece is studying to become JW. So, it is hard to be critical to WT in front of them, and my mom is worried to lose connection with extensive family. One of my cousin shun her -his own aunt- probably because of me.

I know my mom donates a money to WT all the time, somewhere between $5 to $20 per week. Since she is not attending KH due complication after surgery (hip and knee), she is not donating anything. However, she is going through rehab right now to get better. Many people in her KH thinks she is well off because of me. Last summer elderette told her that she is cheap, because she is not donating enough.

I only find out that she was pissed off from my niece, and when I inquired she told me what happened. The elder came for donation (and report card on hours studied) and cared less about her physical well-being. While Czech Republic has universal healthcare, it does not cover everything, and outpatient care and rehab is paid upfront by cash, including shots which cost well several hundreds dollars per course of treatment. So when she told the elder that she does not have money to give him at that moment; he said that she had very weak faith to Jah, which started the argument. He went to complain to my sister who lives about one hour away.

In last email from her, she told met that people at the apex of the WT organization are not much better than medieval bishops and royalty who lived from work of others. Like in medieval times, royalty traveled from castle to castle to feed off from local population; the overseer is living off by visiting one congregation after another. Also she refuses cooking out for his wife. Once they prepared meal for her, my mom is excellent baker and wife complained that women at her KH did not provided tasty meal. The KH paid them meals and dinners in the most expensive restaurants in the city where only business elite go. So from the point onward, she is does not want to do anything with snobby wife.

I will talk to my family over the weekend, so I will post more.

FadeToBlack, was it black adder snake or how we called in Czech zmije? 20+ years ago, I used to conduct a study with this young family, and we became good friends. They invited me to their summer dacha outside Prague, where we talked about Bible and JW life, when this black adder decided to be a part of the study group and rolled out from the near by pile of the woods into the stone patio where we sit. The woman got so scared that she picked an axe and hacked the snake to pieces. I was kinda sad, because it was a beautiful animal. I am glad your snake is doing fine, at least you do not have a rat, mice, or rodent problem.

I live in the city in heavily populated area, so I do not get many big animals around. However, last summer, I heard my cat going ballistic in his favorite room, like being scared of something. I get to the window to see what is outside, peak my head out and there was right under the window a huge male buck with antlers feeding on my plants. So, I am inside the house, with opened window and the buck lift his head and towers over me from outside. We both froze, but my neighbor so him and scares the animal away. I still do not know where it came from, but my kitty was so scared that he hid under the bed for several days.

I know my mom does not like the overseer wife. She told me that overseer demanded in the past that women in the KH have to cook for him, but his wife complained that the women did not provide tasty meals. I know one sister who worked in restaurant and she is an excellent cook. So the wife must be super picky. Also my mom told me that KH has take overseer to dine out, but he demands the most expensive restaurants in the city.

What I know my mom is donating money every time she goes to program and assemblies. But she had two surgeries last month and she was on antibiotics, which she does not tolerate easily. So if you are sick, last thing you want someone to harass you about faith, which is exactly what the elder did. When my mom is sick, she prays a lot, so she considered it as insult. I talked to my mom and I know the elder really pissed her off. And on top of it, he complained to everyone in the KH and rest of the family.

So ... Russia and Nato at war? Should we be worried?

it seems unbelievable but turkey (a nato member state) shooting down a russian jet fighter on their syrian border seems to be "meh" news and no one is too bothered about it too much.. the world seems a bit upside down right now.

i don't think a lot of countries really know who the hell they are fighting and who is and isn't on their side in it all and really what is going on.. smaller incidents than this have led to major conflicts in the past but hopefully calm heads will prevail.

china shot down a us spy plane years ago and the world survived and forgot about it so things will move on i'm sure.. i'm guessing the price turkey pays for their gas supply from russia will be going up soon though.. man, that republican primary is sucking all the news attention from the room.

I am more worried on proxy war escalation. Russia will not start war with NATO, but it will punish Turkey. Russia will not let anyone crap on her, but it will calculate political cost on internal scene. The best way Russia can punish Turkey is to support Kurdish separatism.

This pissed her off and she started to argue with the elder that the overseer and his wife should work instead living off from congregations. They should not be in debt to anyone. The elder left, and went to my sister and complained. Now my mom is depressed and upset. I am pissed because she is still not doing well, and needs time to recover. Even my niece told me that grandma was depressed, and my mom is not person who gets depressed easily.

some people point out the subliminal pictures in the wtbts publications but sometimes things are just so obvious, such as the title of the book above.. the person who came up with the title for this book must have had a good old laugh.. interestingly, this book first came out in 1988 and has not been included in the online library but nothing has replaced it.

the org is really going backwards when they ditch old light and cannot come up with anything new.

Can you guys clarify what is meant by types and anti-types, and what the WTS has said about it not being scriptural? I havnt heard about that yet. I appreciate it guys, thanks.

Typology is a doctrine which believes that events/things/individuals in the Old Testament has a parable or meaning in the New Testament and Christianity. For example WT doctrine on Noah Ark: people survived Flood by association with Noah and stepping into vessel. WT antitype is that people survive Armageddon by associating with WT and stepping into Noah family of Jehovah Witnesses.

In a bigger picture, this doctrine is implemented for entire Christianity. The future King in Iz 9:1–6 is seen as a fulfillment of Jesus Christ. Type/antitype is not unique to WT, but all Christianity, where Jewish books were reinterpreted for religion based on the New Testament. No Jew can accept a belief of Jesus as a Messiah, but Christianity did exactly this by associating Jewish books for its theology. Christianity does not care that in Jewish beliefs is Jesus sacrifice meaningless (nobody can pay for anyone else sins, only you only are responsible for your own sins, there is not Adamic sins that is inherited by humanity, etc). Nonetheless, by using type/antitype doctrine they do and bend OT beliefs to fit their beliefs.

This book caused me to walk out from WT cult. After reading it and studying, I realized it was all just man-made BS. Half of the book are just irrational construct attempted to wrap JW history into Revelation like conventions in Cedar Point are pouring bowls upon humanity. I still think it is must for anyone who is interested in JW reasoning and theology.

Jewish teaching on Satan is actually positive. He is not adversary of G-d, but someone employed by him to collect evidence on your misdeed. Satan is not opposite of G-d or someone who torture person in afterlife in some hellish underworld. This is all Christian invention.

I saw it on tv and it is naive. It is not much different when I was school child during the Cold War under communists, and we were had to manifest for world without nuclear weapons and military, while outside my school we had Soviet base and tanks. Robespierre did use child propaganda as well. In 1794 prior his execution, at the height of his power, and the peak of the Terror, he paraded with 8-9 years of girls in the nice dresses through the streets of Paris and denounced the enemies of the state and warmongers, while guillotine beheaded 50-70 people daily.

The West, USA, Russia, and China needs to realize that they are in war with aggressive Islamic ideology which wants to destroy them. Destroying ISIS in necessary step to break this ideology. Children Crusades in 1200s or small child used in propaganda peace talk after such tragedy as Paris will not stop this ideology. Thousands more people will die and lets hope they will not get hold on WMD.
