In 1997 and 2002 Czech Republic experienced floods of the century. One point more than 1/3 of population was affected. There were JWs who were totally flooded out and lost everything in the disaster, and nobody in the KH helped them with anything. There was family that slept in the school's gymnasium on the training mats, and nobody invited them at home. People usually got help from the municipality, but there was nothing officiallly announced by the elders.

my guess is that this arrangement is meant to bring tears of joy to the eyes of the impoverished one, and thankfulness to "jehovah's organization.

Death of a loved one and faith

i haven't posted in forever and a day, but i feel like this is a great place to ask this question because of so many people who are unsure of their beliefs.
my mom was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer about four years ago.

I am so sorry about reading your post on your mom's death. I have lost two friends to breast cancer and they were just in their 40's. My dad died from cancer at age 50. He did not smoke, lived healthy lifestyle in the countryside, and cancer ravished him in matters of three months. After the cancer metastasized to his spine and brain, he was not recognizing me at all. My father studied to be JW, but he backed off from baptism and only my mom became JW. However, my father was deeply religious and he had a strong belief in afterlife. Like you I had struggle the answer if there is afterlife or resurrection. When I was in JW world, I hoped that big "A" will be right behind the corner and I will see my dad shortly after resurrection. After couple years, I had realized that all the talk about afterlife, never-ending life, and resurrection is just a myth. I have accepted that I never will see my dad, and he only lives in my memory.

European Left became antisemitic due Israel, which has close relationship with USA. For the EU Left, it is not possible to pander Islamic immigrants, and at the same time to preach as a defender of Jews. The love for Jews is gone among the Left at least since 1967. Last month, the Czech Parliament rejected EU requirement of labeling Israeli products from West Bank to be antisemitic. The only opposition to it were the damn commies. The Communist party is the biggest critic of Israel. Under communism Jews were purged from party, significant number of people were executed between 1948-1960 were Jews. Communists started to pander ME countries and many communist countries were allied to USSR. Today's EU is run by many Left who were deeply influenced by various forms of Communism like Barrosso. They see Israel as American ally and enemy. The Jews and the Left belong to long lost era gone 85 years ago.

Im sick of my life

recently my dad was made an elder so my family has been doing a lot more "theocratic" activities lately.
every morning i wake up and put on my itchy dress and stupid makeup and heels and then pretend that i love what i'm doing and that everybody is my friend when in reality i feel horrible and all the other teenage girls at my hall hate me for some reason.

Do not worry about things you cannot do right now, but you know you can accomplish your dreams some point later in your life. Follow your dreams, and make them to happen. You have your goal, what you want to do and this is a great thing. When I left WT, I did not completed my B.S. until I was 30 and people were already secured in their careers and job path. Believe in yourself and make your dream to come true. Going to college is a great start and will open your horizon to so many new ideas.

What I find fascinating about the intersection of right wing ideology and anti-Muslim sentiment is that it's producing defenders of gay people from the most unlikely quarters. So that we've now got right wing nationalists saying we should defend gay people and "our values" of gay tolerance against intolerant Muslim foreigners. Who would have predicted? Weird.
I do not remember communists being tolerant to gay people. They persecuted many of them. Under Stalin era it was enough to accuse of same-sex relationship or behavior to destroy anyone reputation. During the show-trials, people were accused of homosexual behavior to be totally socially discredited. It was in the 1960's when communist power waned, when Czechoslovakia and Hungary decriminalized homosexual behavior. It was done by political movement that was right of the communists or anticommunist. It is the same to say that right-parties are antisemitic, while today, the left parties in EU are antisemitic and anti-Israel.

Surgery/Infection/Pain

This happened to my mom last October. She had hip and knee surgery to resolve issue with pain. Everything went fine, but several days later, she got infection in her knee and had to hospitalized again. It is actually common when people get infection after surgery or after injection. My mom is allergic on most common antibiotics and it was very difficult to treat her. She got even more sick and spent most of October to be lying, which postponed her rehabilitation. -

No more reporting time for field service!!!

i received a text from our group leader an ms & i told him i didn't have any to report, then of course it got bumped up to the elder & i text him back i have no hours to report for december.
i came to this decision when reading many posters here about the yearbook stats, i do not want & refused to contribute to this organization "boosting" numbers for their glorious purposes, after the rc in australia they do not deserve for me to give them a "production" report of what i do for god, no more.

My last report was in April 1994. I studied with a young couple, and we went through book of Revelation, which also had it as a book study in KH under Great Climax... During that study, I realized It was all man-made religion and stopped attending any JW related events. It was this couple that helped me to get on my feet, secured job that paid a rent and I was free. We stayed friends for several years. I only told my mom that I do not believe it anymore several years later and she was ok with it; but my siblings did not talk to me for years. I just walked away, did not fade, and did not write DA letter. Nobody from KH ever tried to contacting me, no call, no visit, nothing. -

the book 1984, also contains many other great thoughts of george orwell.. of course there have been many other great thinkers, buddah, darwin, freud, einstein and marx come to mind.

I actually never had favorite thinker. We had to study some of them at university, but I never developed significant attachment to any of them. However, I liked some of the reasoning and thinking they presented. I find St. Augustine and his City of God to be interesting and deeply influential of Western European Christian theology. I liked Plotinus and still have his book on the shelve. I never got into Orwell, even when I have read him during the communist time as he was illegal, probably, because the system was already in place. -

Some form of Judaism believes that Serpent and Eve had mated and Kain was an offspring of this relationship. Therefore, Eve is called a mother of all living, but not Adam, because he was not a father of all humanity. "Genesis 4:1: ‘ And Adam knew his wife Eve, who was pregnant by the Angel Sammael, and she conceived and bare Cain; and he was like the heavenly beings, and not like the earthly beings, and she said, I have acquired a man, the angel of the Lord." - from Targum of Jonathan.
The rivalry between Abel and Kain was caused by two brothers having two different daddies. The hatred between two classes of people was brought to the offspring. Some interpretation from Judaism said that the war is between children of Serpent and Adam, and has nothing to do with Christian Messiah. Some more radical rabbinic stories said that the fall from grace was that both Adam and Eve had inappropriate 3-way sexual relationship with a Serpent and were not pure afterward. This was also a cause for their mutual shame. Two years ago I posted on the Serpent Seed here from Midrash, but I do not feel to look for the links again.
The stories between Adam, Eve, and Serpent having sexual relationship is old over 1000 years. They were also known to medieval Christianity and Renaissance. It is not recent invention.
