Saintbertholdt - I have seen worse comments on this forum ! I generally follow your comments with interest - and yes my kids [no GC's yet ] do not believe in the God I brought them up to believe in in the Borg - I no longer feel gutted and stricken by that - the old WTS induced fear is no more - I am glad the kids are thinking about things-

shepherdless - Thanks - Don't worry - always calm when I am here - would not dare expend unnecessary energy on these things they are not life and death issues anymore - have been around here on JWN for a long time - do enjoy being here - Ride the punches, go with the flow ... we are all victims of victims and followers of followers ... so I mostly read everyone's offerings here with empathy and sympathy:

Interestingly a Public Talk Outline of some years back - "Evidence of God in the World around us" did intimate in the opening Sub-heading that we only believe in God [a god] due to 1- Our parents told us so and or 2 -experiences we have had or heard of from others by which we decide to decide for ourselves that perhaps there is this Deity etc - and then it gets reinforced by our own doing eg going to a Kingdom Hall and having it drummed into us etc etc We really cannot "Prove" it - we accept it if we so decide [or get forced to if in an extremist religion etc] I know people who feel comfortable to believe in a God / Superior Intelligence "out there" but who don't read the Bible or belong to any formal creed - I think for the now I am kinda in that Zone myself - I don't evangelise it or force it - just reflect and meditate on the possibility -

So for the now - juandefiero - yes I do say/feel that he cannot be proved Conclusively but I still stand in awe and marvel -

At the end of the day if one chooses to believe in a God, greater intelligence, designer, personality behind the design or not ...............so what - NONE of us can Prove conclusively any of this either way ...anyway .............back to square one and in 10 years from now if this question is raised it will almost be a ditto of the current one -

I will say this once again about this forum : It has developed a signature that strongly implies that if you dont comment "in-line" with a certain thought grouping here eg Evolution etc ...if you present a contrary view you are going to me insulted, torn apart, abused by the underlying "following" - This has become a forum biased strongly only to Evolutionary / Atheistic view - and we dont like you to go against the flow !

So in any forum where enquiry takes place in the UK, in the absence of any evidence being offered or available from the side of the JW's - I would like to suppose that the victim/s testimony is all and the only evidence and should stand as such ??

I have not come across such arrogance and this from the "only true" organization !

I thought the broadcast was fairly incisive - I have recorded and converted the clip to MP3 and will be mailing it along with all the supporting Docs to my "JW Contact List" - same lot that got the ARC mailings - I have set up a new e-mail, new IP too so if it was blocked previously it will get through at least the first mailing -

from the time i was a small boy - i loved rock n' roll music.

beatles, rolling stones, led zeppelin, hendrix.

i started getting slighted for the music i listened to as i lay in my bedroom listening on headphones to led zeppelin's song " black dog " at age 14 with my elder dad looking suspiciously at me as i'm rocking out .

Mrs and I are both formally trained muso's -

I am 60 now [damn] so I identify strongly with the 70's Rock era, being my teen years - We were constantly counseled about the dangers of just about everything unless it was Ray Conniff and Singers ! At one DC, there was a talk on music and we were encouraged to trash our questionable vinyls /

I am a percussionist [Latin] and of course cut my teeth on Santana - so you can imagine the references to the demonic music of good ol Carlos eg the album Abraxas / Black Magic Women / Evil Ways etc

I played in Folk Rock and Jazz groups and was very into the 69 Woodstock outpourings - some of the greatest music that ever was imho - And that did not endear me to the elders if they were savvy enough to even know of the artists.

The music scene is now so vast that any elders wishing to police the music tastes would have a hard time keeping up /

We currently play the Doors [riders] and Zeppelin's Stairway in our repertoire / albeit very softened back-groundy versions - We do Restaurant Wedding and Corporate gigs - but I wont have any hounders after me no-moh ! We is far-out now man !

Beth-Sarim - [ not wishing to be contentious with you or anyone here at all - ] but I have recently been chatting to a number of "church-goers" who were treated very badly within their denominations eg Baptists / New Apostolics / and 7th Day Adventists . In the most latter the person was effectively shunned by the congregants and family -

On the point of discussion: I would always have applied that scripture to only so-called Christendom ..........until I had to put up with the in-fighting/ ego's / back-stabbing and BS as an elder ..and it was my experience as an Elder that got me searching for a Why ? which has now led to my Liberation from the cult and indeed ALL religion -

i think that i became a jehovahs witness because of my immaturity.

i had some quirky personality traits, and i joined finding that i fit in because, as i said to myself: these people get me.

Today was an odd day.

experienced a series of odd coincidences today.

this morning i noticed a friend had "liked" a picture i had posted on facebook.

i hadn't spoken with him for a while so i texted him that we should get together to 'catch up' some time soon.
