JW Blood Doctrine Constitutes Idolatry
by TTATTelder inif you sacrifice your life for something - that is devotion to the highest degree and can in certain context constitute worship.. .
as has been discussed many times on this forum, the blood doctrine of being willing to sacrifice life to honor a symbol of life (blood) is ludicrous (see this excellent thread by cofty http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/273265/my-explanation-why-they-got-wrong-about-blood-using-only-nwt?page=1).
it is also idolatry.... .

It is a symbol that embodies the person, the day, and the relationship. This picture is very valuable to me and I would sacrifice many things to preserve it or not have it disrespected or desecrated. The question is - would i sacrifice my wife to preserve the symbol of my wife? Would I shove my wife out of the way in a house-fire to save this picture?.......If I did, wouldn't I essentially be worshiping this symbol - not to mention a lunatic?-TE -

Was Cynthia Franz ever disfellowshipped?
by breakfast of champions ini seem to remember that she was not ever dfd even though she was present at the fateful meal, but i don't remember where i saw that.
it seemed like they specifically targeted raymond, but cynthia was left alone.. i tried searching jwn, but the search feature seems to be not working.. also tried googling the answer, but to no avail..

"What if they're right?". I wonder that because I often wonder about myself when that time comes. I feel things have been implanted into our brain so much that it would almost be impossible not to. - tds
If you think this, it is because of indoctrination not because of rational thought. You don't have to lie if you have the truth. Ray knew that. He chose to die poor and happy with a clean conscience instead of a well-cared-for crook.

Why are JW talks & publications never uplifting?
by thedepressedsoul ini was sitting at the meeting the other night and for the first time it hit, jw talks or magazines are never uplifting!
i rarely, if ever hear a talk or read a magazines and have it give nothing but praise to jehovahs servants or just praise jehovah and jesus throughout it.
they never just a read through the bible or just a bible story explained or told.

I know. It is even par-for-the-course to read a scripture during a part and just ask "Now what can we learn from this?" and let the audience guilt themselves for about 5 minutes of all the things they "should" be doing based on that verse. They are that well trained.
The watchtower lesson is sickening with how it starts off every study article with some scriptural reference or story-telling only to beat you over the head by paragraph 14. Raw manipulation.

JW TV is the reason for the hysteria in the KH
by campaign of hate inif you, like me, have noticed the sudden increase in hysteria in the khs right now, i put it down to that jw tv site.
its's far more extensive than i thought it was, i thought it was just 1, 1 hour program a month.
there's a s*** load of videos on that site.. and the real problem, from just watching a clip from each video, is that these guys are clearly "mentally unstable".

what vidiot said......
All I can add is this. In our congregation they are playing the main GB broadcast at the hall once a month. They do it on a big screen (that comes down via remote control) at the front of the hall using a permanently mounted projector in the ceiling.
When they turn out the lights and Tony the Turd starts talking (or whoever), it is really creepy. Could it be more big brother-ish? The mind control is ramping up. I think the end game though is to flush out fence-sitters and ratchet up the devotion level of those that stay. They have big real estate investment plans and don't have time for debates or "thinking" of any kind. When they want to flip your hall for profit and send you across town, they don't want any lip.
Simultaneously they will continue to scrub up their public image for pr/marketing reasons. They are learning from Scientology and the Mormons on that.
I have been thinking lately about what the higher-ups actually think of the rank-and-file. Imagine the cynicism or even contempt they have for the lowly publisher. The big boys just make a glossy media piece to entertain and distract them while they continue their secret empire-building plans (all for Jehovah of course). Any deceit or slight-of-hand along the way is just "spiritual warfare". The end justifies the means - and the end is growing the wealth and power of the organization (all for Jehovah of course).
The WT top brass is about as "worldly" as you can get.

Yeah, hundreds of pedo cases, and stealing all the kingdom halls from the congregations. Lots of paperwork!
I'm sure there's a stubborn COBE or two out there that donated 50,000 or so to build the hall giving them pushback.
startrek - I'm an elder. It's real. Crazy I know. How desperate are they to expose themselves like this willingly?

My sister was invited to a Judicial Committee
by opusdei1972 intoday i called to my sister and she told me that two elders went to her house to announce her that a judicial committe is waiting her in the kingdom hall this friday.
she told them that she will confirm if she will go.
however, i have told her that she shouldn't go, instead she should ask them to write a formal letter, with signatures, asking her for which charges she should be submitted in a private room with two men (or three?

I know of someone locally that is a known vocal apostate. The brothers wanted to meet with him. He threatened to sue each brother individually and the WTBTS if they pursued it. Stopped it cold. No meeting. There was a marking talk and that was all. It's been a few years now. So the threat alone can work.

A therapist is cheaper than a lawyer usually. The cool thing about the therapist angle is it carries the fear of litigation without the cost of a lawyer. Pretty slick....
How could they question it - you know - with that whole "weaker vessel" stuff? LOL....

Propaganda vs Bible study
by Clambake inis it just me or is the wts increasingly just becoming more about watchtower propaganda.
every week it seems to be about killing your children over blood transfusions or worshipping the magical men in brooklyn or the loving provision of shunning or the magical power of the elders or some brother in far off land who is in jail because he cant stop handling out magazines he doesnt understand to people who dont want them.
try and get a jw to explain the gospels or the book of the romans and what was significant about the book of acts...........................no clue.

I know all along they've pulled scriptures here and there out of context and applied them to each other...and you can make people believe anything doing that....but something about them neglecting it more and focusing on their rule system and reverence for themselves, is scary...more cult like than before. - fayedun-away
Yeah I know what you're saying. It's like when you meet a devout Christian, you don't necessarily agree with everything they believe, but you respect them for trying to live by certain standards. What standards do the GB answer to if they do not believe in the Bible anymore?
It certainly explains why things have escalated so quickly as of late. Blatant commercialism, empire building, fund seizure, fear-mongering, power-grabbing, etc.
At least we know what we now know. Oz isn't real. We can't control them, but we can control our future - a future out of the reach of these power-lusting sicko's.
